This is a tough one. Will be expensive to get this to Ireland. $190 to 'AddressPal' reshipper in New Jersey (AnPost's (Irish national post service) reshipping solution). Then €30 for AddressPal service (5 to 10kg) and then maybe some additional import charges. That's still probably cheaper than buying it in Canada by Hasbro's prices. :( Would have backed an EU friendly campaign, no question.

I thought the furniture looks a little bland compared to the original. The Cardboard and Plastic may not be as durable as full Plastic, but at least it was manufactured in colour, and durable enough despite the decades from experience. I haven't done an accurate inventory, but it would seem that the number of figures shipping with the base set are less than the original as well. It came across as over-priced based on content, almost like one was paying prototyping for each set. Shipping does not have to be so expensive either; Chaosium have shown that by shipping in bulk to international Distribution Centres.
@AlwaysBoardNeverBoring
@AlwaysBoardNeverBoring 4 жыл бұрын
The new edition has the same composition and quantity of enemies. It actually has more miniatures because of alter gender heroes, Ragnar, and other extras. I liked the original furniture, but I understand the move to full plastic. Dungeon Saga did full plastic furniture and it's really nice. Overall, I think they've done a pretty nice job, it's just a pity they haven't made more effort to make it available to a wider audience. I think it probably is a touch expensive as well, and I'm not sure they've said what kind of miniature quality it will be yet.
@DavidGreen_au
@DavidGreen_au 4 жыл бұрын
I just checked off my old set, and yes, you are right, the figure set is equivalent. I've had my fully expanded set since it was issued, and I had forgotten how much was in the base set. I cannot disagree with some others though, that if you own the original sets, this re-issue does not bring enough added value to justify its price, distribution jurisdiction aside. Replacing a Fimir with a Fish is just too little to justify the expense.

I recently played a game with a friend for old games sake and we must agree with "inside the box" - it didn't age well. Back in the days it was one of a kind, now it has some serious competion and its main asset would be "being heroquest". I probably would have backed it too, but when they put up such a barrier in front of me, my interests evaporates quickly. A lot of people are assuming that, but the assumption doesn't really take into account that previous HasLab campaigns have been the same (which was how I was able to predict this situation before the campaign started). Furthermore, Hasbro UK owns the trademark to HeroQuest in the UK at least, so licensing doesn't explain why they haven't made it available here. While there may be a few areas where licensing is murkier, I genuinely think that for the most part they just don't want to deal with international shipping and payments.

I am assuming the America only crowdfunding launch has everything to do with the convoluted IP mess around our beloved game. Remember the 25th Anniversary edition out of Spain? I think Hasbro only has the rights for distribution in the US and Canada, and definitely NOT Europe. They have also cunningly replaced any GW IP with other imagery, and commissioned artists to replace the original artwork too. The fact they're crowdfunding possibly means it's them testing the waters, or maybe it's a pet project of some designer they don't want to invest in. But seeing the artwork and miniature renders, I'd say they're already committed to the project. A shame really; I love HQ, and would have jumped on this like a Chaos Warrior on a wounded Elf...

I also feel averse pledging money to a project from a large company like Hasbro, and would rather wait for a mass market retail release, to get it cheaper on the secondary market. The gameplay is another mystery, as if it is too close to the original, it will not hold its entertainment value in the modern day of board games, and if it is too new, we don't know what to expect. Overall, I like how the project is shaping up and look forward to seeing more :)

Already several months back where I live it was expected that 1 in 4 jobs lost during the pandemic lockdown were expected to become permanent. With Congress playing politics instead of passing a relief bill, it is expected to only get worse. 14% of U.S. households cannot afford food as of two months ago. 80% of independent restaraunts are expected to permanently close. Several people have recommended these services, but how does it work with a preorder that could be a year or more coming? I assume you would need to have the virtual address set up at the point of backing, and then just pay for it for an indefinite period of time until delivery?

Always Board Never Boring There is no cost for having the virtual address. There are only fees for the actual parcel - processing the parcel, postage to the destination country, plus eventual other ones like for consolidating multiple parcels into one etc. But you can have the virtual address for free and pay nothing until the parcel is shipped, so no issues with pre-orderu, Kickstarters etc.

I would have 100% bought into the $150 edition but I’m in the UK. 😩

Just remember, the game will be made in China, so the CCP will be getting a slice of that $150. Just a shame that the CCP are also the incompetent pricks that has cause a global issue that mean you can't play this game with your friends as it breaks lockdown rules.

Stewart Leslie I’m not worried about communists getting my money if it means getting what I want. Hell, have the full 150. But it’d only be a 5 person game max anyway so the lockdown rules would be fine.

Looks really pretty. I’m not liking the fish guy but I guess they had to replace the famir with something. Really screwed the pooch with only dropping it in the states. 😡😭😡😭

Surprised they didn't go for something like a troll, but I guess they thought the fimir was pretty much the one creature tying HeroQuest to the Warhammer world so they needed to have something that uniquely tied to the new world they're creating.

As if Hasbro needs to crowdfund. This is either taking the p#*s or a greedy marketing campaign. Also a slap in the face for the home of Games Workshop.

I guess they don't have confidence in sales to put it on shelves traditionally.

Does it cause any problems using such a service for something that you're buying as a preorder that may not come out for a year or more?

@@AlwaysBoardNeverBoring idk, being an American I haven't researched it that much. I have read posts by those who use these companies and they are happy about it.
