A great recap Jeffrey - thanks for the effort with this one. I foresee a future when Hasbro leases their licenses out to other companies for toy production.

Hasbro investing in games does not mean they will stop toys. That literally defeats the purpose of diversification. Lots of companies have tried videogames and failed (including hasbro interactive!!), so for them to stop toys before they even have a single profitable videogame makes no sense.
@km1157Күн бұрын
They dumped 1 billion in the gaming and they are cutting back on their toy production. They want to be a IP holder. That’s why they’re moving to Boston. Besides Transformers is made by takra and I figure super 7 will probably keep G.I. Joe. Star Wars is dead property so it’ll probably nothing else from that and Marvel probably go to Todd McFarland because he’s already doing statues for them.

Not even just the Avengers movies, which probably won’t do the numbers of the old ones, but the X-Men movies are on the horizons and X-Men 97 revitalized the love of the X-Men. It did what it was supposed to do so people are gonna go into an X-Men movie excited it will be up to Marvel Studios to give us a cinematic product worthy of the set up of X-Men 97. If it does, those MCU X-Men figures will sell the same way that the X-Men 97 figures did. Give people something to attach to, they will buy the figures.

Hasbro is doing good with Star Wars: The Vintage Collection and Star Wars: The Black Series. They're not going to get rid of The Star Wars license.

I dunno. I hear from the rumor mill. The company denies the rumors. Then it happens- the rumors turned out to be true. I think Hasbro made a lot of terrible dimwitted mistakes. I also think they are steering away from toys because they decided its not a good investment. They are investing in other things. Toys? I dont know if they will continue to make them or not.

Great video. I have to disagree on some things, I think Hasbro is getting ready to not renew the Lucafilm master license. Disney has been, and still is, taking Star Wars in the wrong direction which has resulted in the fanbase becoming apathetic which is far worse than fans hating what Disney has done. Because at least when you have fans hating what Disney has done it shows they still have a passion for Disney to get it right. Now fans have given up and just don't care. Look at Skeleton Crew, a well reviewed show that had lower ratings than the Acolyte...and the Acolyte season 2 was cancelled because of it's low performance. So a S2 of Skeleton Crew is not likely if it was planned for. Because of this I do not think the Mando/Grogu movie is going to do as good as some seem to think it will. As for Marvel, I think Hasbro will do what they can to maintain the license but they will try to mainly focus on Comicbook/Non-MCU (like Rivals) figures and only do the bare minimum MCU figures until they see if Marvel Studios is righting the ship and getting the MCU on a better track. Of course GI JOE and Transformers will continue on pretty much business as usual except for maybe a small reduction in how much is produced per year.

I can only HOPE that Hasbro ignores the MCU nonsense and focuses on classic comic book characters. With Banshee, we have now completed the New X-Men team. If we get original Wonderman, Mantis, and Swordsman, we pretty much complete all the classic Avengers. An updated Blackbolt and Triton being rumored, we only need Gorgon and Maximus to complete the Inhumans. It would be nice to complete these teams. And hopefully start producing much-wanted and needed classic villains such as Mandarin, Attuma, Executioner, Mephisto, etc.
@retrorobo97002 күн бұрын
@@Vintage-Bob I think you and I (and some others) want the same thing, but I have to believe that Hasbro will continue to try to reach new fans and they probably think these fans are coming on board from the movies. Yes, things haven't been the same since the end of the Infinity Saga, but there's always the chance that Disney will right that ship with the upcoming F.F., Avengers and X-Men movies. I'm still amazed at how many young people I speak to who their only exposure to Marvel has ever been the movies. The reaction to Deadpool and Wolverine alone shows there's an appetite. Now while I probably won't be investing in any MCU figures, I doubt Hasbro will stop making them. They will probably pull back a little as they have recently, and then when the hit train starts rolling again, those figures will be flooding the toy stores again. Kinda makes me a little sad because I know that means less comic book figures for us, but it was the reality a few years ago and probably will be again. Yes, I would love to finally be able to complete some of the teams you mentioned (and a new Yellow-Jacket to boot!).
@Vintage-Bob2 күн бұрын
@@retrorobo9700 Yeah, it's disturbing to me how so many modern fans of the Marvel MCU stuff are completely ignorant of the history of these characters and stories. It reminds me of street interviews when they ask people about WWII and they say "I have no idea, that was before my time". Strange. I won't be seeing the FF movie. The moment I heard about a female Silver Surfer, I said "Nope...no way." Marvel made a few good movies at the beginning, but went downhill fast. As for new fans of the movies, I'm thinking that they're more focused on the videos games than action figures. Kids these days are lost in an electronic, somnambulant haze, a transfixed, almost hypnotic obsession with videos. They live virtual lives. It's pretty much the older adults who keep the action figure hobby alive. When I go to local conventions, the only kids I ever see and the ones dragged along by their fathers. And yes, we do need a good classic Yellowjacket! I always forget to list him.

Thank you! I think they'll stick with Star Wars until after they get the numbers back on Mando and Grogu, which should do well. And the Vintage Collection collectors haven't failed to get a HasLab backed either so that's a positive for them.
@Vintage-Bob2 күн бұрын
@@LylesFigureFiles I really wish they'd do another good ML Haslab. I dream of having a Galactus-sized Eternity figure, a Stranger, etc. But what would really make me lose my mind and break out the champagne would be a Haslab of Arishem the Celestial with some Deviants as tiers, along with a classic Eternals wave to support the Haslab - Zuras, Makkari, Ajak, Sersi, Thena, Kro, and Dromedan as a BAF. If they ever announced something like that I'd never live to see it. My heart would explode! LOL!

I dont see Hasbro extending the Disney Marvel & Star Wars licenses. It typically would have to be a 5 year extension which cost mega millions. The Marvel comic characters catalog have been beat to death. Most main stream collectors are satified having dozen of versions of the most popular characters. Google top 200 most popular and 97% of that list is done. Deep cut comic characters that remain wont sell well enough at retail. The best of MCU and height of its popularity is behind us, even with RDJ return MCU figures don't sell well enough to justify an extension. Therefore I see Hasbro fulfilling the last year of the current license and pass on the renewal. Mcfarlane will probably get a license for 7 inch but it wont be called legends. Which leaves the door open for another company to pick up 6 inch legends.
@LylesFigureFilesКүн бұрын
Which company is doing the 6" figures for DC? Think it's one or the other so if you want 6" Legends, you should probably not root for McFarlane to get the license.
@aaroneaston889919 сағат бұрын
@LylesFigureFiles Right now, no one has 6 inch DC, but there are some very talented companies out there that might get a go at it. The only problem is that there isn't a lot of meat on the Marvel Legends Comic bone after 25 years of Marvel Legends. With companies like Mafex, Mezco, SHF, Sentinel and 3rd party producing Marvel and DC characters in 6 inch scale, I don't feel too depraved. You also get better quality figures at a slower pace instead of buying in bulk when Hasbro or Mcfarlane release figures in waves.
@LylesFigureFiles17 сағат бұрын
@@aaroneaston8899 Exactly. With higher quality options already out there for folks for both Marvel and DC producing at a slower rate with a greater emphasis on quality there's no need to worry about what Hasbro is doing for folks that don't care about their stuff one way or another.

Hasbro has so many lines that not even using sure lincesse them out is smart. GI Joe dont see them stopping Classified sure they are letting super7 do Orings but that is after Hasbro attempted to bring back o_ring and not weorking let someone else do scale and still get paid. Transformers is Fine if anything expect less in Transformers One Style and lines targetting younger Fans. Studios Series Earthrise or any of the main lines are safe. I can see them dropping Star Wars the lincesse forces them to do a ton of toys on current tv Shows and Movies which had been duds clogging up ollies. I see them wanting to keep Marvel legends but only if they can ignore movie lines another batch of Ollie crap that sits. If Disney wants them to focus on Movie toys then I can see them noping out.

I'm not worried about hasblowsit not making figures, that's crazy even for them. Maybe some of the movie line gets cut or dropped, but so what, they made figures long before movies, come on. Now if they lost the license to somebody else, yeah I'd be down for that. Because they don't make the figures the way they should anyway. Been at it years, hit and miss, mostly miss. Overpriced! So they can eff off. But they aint gonna stop making toys altogether.

To the ppl worried about McFarlane getting the legends licence need to understand it's a conflict of interest and Todd already said he can only do statues not figures, he simply can't have the license to do DC and marvel legends figures and there's no way he'd drop DC for marvel but yes 7" legends would be a tragedy.
@teeveeparty2 күн бұрын
