I completely forgot about these, had a few Link and Mario trophies as a kid. Thanks for the nostalgia.

Back when Nintendo was not just video games, but a cultural movement! Thanks for watching!

I have all 17 trophies with the boxes. When Toys R Us finally had them reduced at the clearance price of $1.98 I grabbed all of them except for the Link Battles Zola trophy. I went searching at about 5 or 6 Toys R Us stores in the surrounding area but came up empty. It wasn't until years later that I found out that the 6th Zelda trophy, Link Battles Zola was never produced. There are 6 Punch out figures, the Mac Jabs Don Flamenco is titled wrong on the back of the box and is actually Mac Jabs Glass Joe. The box art is clearly Glass Joe.

All seventeen! That's great! You could have gone crazy looking for the Link Battles Zola back in the day. I had a few of these as a kid, but I ended up dismembering them and now I only have a couple of the Links (Trap and Gibdo). I wish I had kept the ones I had and gotten some more when I could. I really think they are neat little trinkets from an interesting time in Nintendo and Video game history. They are like pre-amiibos. or something. Pretty interesting stuff about that Punch Out trophy. Toy companies were so lackadaisical back then. Thanks for the comment!

Still have the Mario where he stomps on the three goombas.
😂. Well, to be fair, I think it might have been a Princess Peach's stunt double...like Vespa's in Spaceballs. Heck, with the way the old figures looked, I can't be sure that was actually Bowser!

I picked a link vs. Gibdo at a video game store for twenty bucks complete in box the box was beat up but I didn't care since it costed a lot more elsewhere

That was a good find! I had one of those years ago and got rid of it. I wish I had kept it. I would definitely buy it if I found it for $20 now. Thanks for the comment.

I was talking today to a friend about what idiots Nintendo was for not making actual Mario, Metroid, and Zelda toys back then…everyone I know bought the “trophies”, and hacked off the figures so that they could go out and make up their own imaginary sequels to the series….we were all held prisoner by crappy 8 but graphics, but we all dreamed of huge, realistic looking three d realms- the heaven video game world we live in today was created by wishful 80’s kids like us. I saw the other day that Nintendo finally had a full line of Mario action figure…they even have play sets with smaller figures for kids on a budget. Thank, jerks. Only 30 years too late…

In my head, those 8-bit battles looked every bit as good as the boss fights in modern games. Maybe better. You are right, most of us all played in an an 8-bit world but saw adventures in a fully 3D world in our minds. Nintendo has some great stuff out now, but I was telling my kids what it was like to find even one bit of Zelda merchandise back in the day. It was striking gold. Now that stuff in everywhere. Oh well, better late than never. Thanks for your comment, it was great!
