That is so awesome Justin. I would of had those little parts in the carpet monster. LOL. Great shocks, they look so real. Ron
@JHartModelworks3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Ron. The small end on the other shock flew off into never never land and i had to completely scratch build the end from various size styrene rods. But so far it looks like the replacement is a good match and fits well.

PN Racing makes some 1/24 scale springs for mini Z RC Cars. These springs come in various colors and thicknesses. Perfect for 1/24 scale and NASCAR models. Thanks for your videos.

One trick I do if I have a few holes to drill at the same depth, I wrap some tape on the bit to mark the depth. It helps keep me from going beyond and damaging anything too.

Thanks for watching! It's not bad after you do a couple. Important thing is getting the first drill bit centered.

Wonderful work Justin. Thanks for sharing your technique. Where did you get the drill bits and what company made them?
@JHartModelworks3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Vic. I get mine from amazon. I search for metric PCB bits. You can find sets with both the 0.1 -1.0 and 1.1 to 2.0 bits for under $15 (I got the XLX brand) , but the smaller ones break in a heart beat if you put any sideways stress on them. You can often find 5 pack sets of 0.3 - 1.2 from Hakkin and Wayintop for under $20 so you have lots of replacements. They do have a wider shanks so make sure your pen vice can open wide enough. I got my pen vice on amazon too.

Great idea and video. Where do you get the piano wire and springs?
@JHartModelworks Жыл бұрын
My local Hobbytown USA carries the piano wire, sometimes it's called music wire. It's from K&S. The springs I either use ball point pen springs, or if I don't have any the right diameter I order a pack off amazon. You can usually find a pack of like 10 springs for less than $10. I find usually the size I need is 4 or 5 mm outer diameter. I just measure the kit springs to be sure.

@@JHartModelworks Great, thanks. Can't wait to try this on the next car kit.
@bapathwal72972 жыл бұрын
It would be better to drill the smaller size holes on both ends and put a longer Rod so it fits both sides and then slide the length of tube on the rod. That way there's less chance of damaging the part trying to drill a bigger diameter hole, the only setback with this is that it's not compressible.
@JHartModelworks2 жыл бұрын
You could do it that way too. Like you said it isn't compressible, so you'll need to be absolutely precise on your length or you'll end up creating fit issues either for the shocks themselves, or some other part of the suspension. Thanks for watching!

Where do you get those drill bits?
@JHartModelworks3 жыл бұрын
Amazon. They carry practically everything. They are metric pc board bits.
