Hoping for a dedicated digital XPAN experience, I’ve got on order a used Fuji GFX 50R. The GFX series offers the 65:24 aspect setting…and the 50R has rangefinder look and feel and function. What I don’t understand is why Fuji doesn’t promote the GFX series as a pano solution, given the hunger among panoramists. 🧐

Thanks for another very interesting and informative show. I'm not normally a fan of woodland photography but Shep Li's image blew me away. A clear example of lateral thinking!! Thank you for your points, and my method is simple to shoot as few sec. as possible as low ISO as possible and keep the tripod level. The second stitch that you pointed is really the Peace light in memory of Jhon Lennon, which Joko Ono did put up in his memory, and is in Reykjavik about 100 miles away from Storhofdi, where I was, there is a lighthouse there, you can see the lights are lighting up the ground all around me, and I’m in about 120 meters over sea-level, and the cost of Iceland is leaning to the North Wes and North East, this has been a problem getting the Horizon level in many of my Aurora photos, even though I do keep my tripod leveled, as the cost leans to those directions. And I’m no PS man at all, just LR. The aurora hasn’t been kind to us here in Vestmannaeyjar, this season at all, but I did have some minutes a few weeks ago after the Volcano started on Reykjanes peninsula on the 19th of March, I’m sending you the photo through Wetransfer.com as a link. That evening the Moon was in the way, as so often does happen if the sky is clear, therefor I'm shooting at 6 sec and 1000 iso, yes and the pano is from 4 frames. we.tl/t-lwvlzrzOyq I do love the show and I was late to send my reply to you comment’s but thank you all for a lovely show. PS. I might go to photo the Volcano later on if it stays as it has been doing for 5 weeks now.

I love a good panoramic picture! One type I am not familiar with is a vertical architectural panoramic photograph. Can you show and explain the process some time in the future?
@PhotographyOnline3 жыл бұрын
Hi James. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. We decided not to include any upright panoramic shots because the KZbin screen is 16:9 landscape, so if we try to fit an upright panoramic image into this space it is so small that it is not easy for the viewer to see. However, to do a vertical panorama of a building would require a shift lens, but the rest of the process would be the same as the one we demonstrated in the show. Many thanks

Few camera companies want to take a risk in innovating. Everybody is worried about the race of which camera is the best for video and photos that they forget about thinking outside the box. Medium format becomes more expensive than ever, no one explores the idea of a large format. Fujifilm goes crazy from time to time (recently with their rather affordable medium format) but i think even a stacked micro 4/3 in a panoramic format could be an option to explore the market. Camera Companies have associated video features and megapixels to “ a labeled professional status ” and as iphone has demonstrated in the last couple years, labels are commercially important in sales. Or you risk dying like olympus or soon to be nikon lol

Lightroom will apply any lens corrections if you do it once the photo has been merged. However, if you leave enough overlap between each image then you shouldn’t need to use the corners of any middle frames, so hopefully vignetting won’t be much of an issue. I hope this helps.

I do wish ya'll could have asked if they would consider making a Xpan III - 35mm film!! Heck, that wouldn't entail new sensor costs and there's a lot of interest in 35mm film these days. Have they not seen how much OLD Xpan cameras are selling for? I mean, if Leica can do a niche camera with their dedicated monochrome line...why can't a company do a panoramic 35mm film camera again? Just found a video from last year where a guy was using a Fuji GFX50R with a Hasselblad XPan 35mm lens on it. The GFX50R has a choice for the 65x24 aspect ration and that coupled with the Acros film emulation he said was as close to a digital XPan as we were ever to get. Also I'm not sure if the new GFX100S has that aspect ratio too but I'll bet it does and Fuji has a 30mm f3.5 lens that should be just the ticket for the digital XPan look.
