Does the starch cut down on the fabric breathability? Does this increase the heat under the hat? What fabric is your boonie made from? Brand of boonie? Thanks for this video and your help!!

It does effect it a little. Heat isn’t bad because of ventilation holes in the hat. The fabric is nylon ripstop. If it was 100 percent cotton it would be definitely more hot. My Boonie hats are all from Propper now. My favorite from Propper are the nylon ripstop. Or Propper “Tactical Boonie” Hats. I do have a couple a of 100 cotton boonies that when starched is warm enough for fall / winter. 😉👍

In the Marines I knew a lot of people who swore by Sta Flo starch. Sadly that has been discontinued but Faultless is what I remember going with when I couldn't get Sta Flo.... Who am I kidding? My first duty station was Yuma Az. When I heard one of the gate guards say the way he beat the heat was by not starching his cammies I went with it. I starched them when some GySgt had a hard on for starched cammies but otherwise I just ironed them every morning. I could care less what starch I used. But whatever Mamasan used in the barracks in Okinawa? That stuff was almost too good. Could hardly get a leg in my pants. Sta Flo was really the closest I have seen to that though.

Sta Flo was good and Mamasan probably made her and used powered starch. 😀
