Just a heads up on these.....the D-shaft is so tight on most of these timers, the knob fails. New knob? The D-shaft strips. New timer and knob? 50/50 crap shoot. These are infuriating. Bring back the metal D-shaft!

Okay. Couple of questions. How many layers or how many times do you suggest to cover item with wax? If used on a jacket or pant, how or what would be the proper way to launder them, when needed? Thank you!!
@CheapGeek12 күн бұрын
I do at least 2 layers for complete coverage, You need another layer if you decide it's not waxy enough. They say- you shouldn't launder. You should wipe the garment down with a cloth or use a brush to remove, stains, dirt, etc. Then you'd reapply wax as needed. Personally, I'll try to clean it as best I can and re-wax. 'm pretty cavalier with it. I'll blast waxed stuff with a garden hose and use a brush, let it dry and then reapply wax. If that's not working, I wash it in the washer on COLD and then air dry and then reapply the wax. It really depends on how much wax you have on the item, if it's a garment versus a hat or a bag. I also don't apply so much wax that the item is crunchy or very stiff either. You can also follow the cleaning and care instructions from websites that sell waxed items. FIlson is a good one. Good question!

I'm struggling to remove the pin on the middle hinge. Seems like the pin just turns with the lower nut. How do you hold the pin in place (its smooth all around) while loosening to lower nut? Or spin out the pin after removing the upper nut?

Looks a good spot to me. You might want to mark it so you don’t drive over the eggs with the mower
@oldtimerlee882014 күн бұрын
Yes! It is normal behavior, IMO. We often see them leave the pond / wooded area behind our home to lay eggs in our front yard. I don't know if it's the short grass or soil type, heat from the sun or something else. Do know from living here for many years, that it is normal to see them laying eggs in our yard. If you want to protect the eggs, put a stake, survey flag or some other signal beside the nest to keep mower wheels off of it. And ... some local predators will dig up those nests and eat the eggs. So, don't be surprised, if you see broken shells.
@BrakerOfStones14 күн бұрын
Double check to make sure it’s not an invasive species because if it is then take care of it. I know the red eared sliders nest about a month before the native turtles here in Oregon and they take all their nesting areas which is causing a rapid decline of the native turtles here. But if it is native, put barrier around it of some sort if you have it.
