"Hatching Time Cages major clean up & Quail accommodation"

I know this is a bit long. Sorry about that. But, I wanted to go thru somewhat of what I do to clean these ABS plastic cages and
after 6 months, Wow! Almost like new and what appears to be happy tenants. Meaning Quail tenants that is.😅
Each layer section has LED lighting in it. Lighting is appropriately 16 hours a day. My set up is clean, easy to handle as hardly any work to maintain this.
What I've learned in less than a year is if a person creates a foundation (CAGE, BROODER, INCUBATOR)
before having Quail, the cost is absolutely worth it all. One can focus on longevity of their new Quail and realize that this can be more than just a hobby but moving forward for self sufficiency.

i'm just getting into the jumbo quails. how long should they be kept in the brooder? and after that do they go into the grow out pen or the breeding pen? i'm using all hatchingtime quail cages.

Thanks for the question. Since Ive only housed Jumbo Quail in the Hatching Time cages, approx 3 per section is very comfortable. Thus if there are no deviding walls, up to 10 to 11 for freedom of range. Hope this helps.

What lights have u got, & where did u buy them plz

The Ring lights, I ordered from Amazon Prime. The cheapest I could find that will work for you is the Hongdak 10.2 ring light with stand and phone holder. One light is 10.99cents. You do not need the stand or phone holder. All you need is the ring light. It's bright and it's LED. Hardly uses any power. Each cage section I have has one ring light attached by zip ties in the ceiling tip area of the middle section. Kevin from Living Traditions did a video on how he used ring lights in his quail cages. He's a genius 😆 but it works! All my hens lay every day. I have the lights on a timer to be on 14 hours a day. Thus when I go to bed, those birds go to bed. Thanks for asking. Wayne

I just found the channel because I found a deal on a set of Hatching Time cages for sale on craigslist and was looking for info. They have 2 rows of cages, and 1 row of Brooders with heater for sale for $500. Looking for additional info on these cages to see what they are all about. never tried keeping quail before and may be interested in trying them. How do you like that cage set up? Does it get top heavy with the two rows of cages and one row of brooder on top? Thinking that would be an ideal set up for keeping quail for eggs and meat. Assuming it would have to be kept indoors out of the rain/snow based on the design.

The cages are excellent. I'm not able "yet" to place my birds outside as our property is at an incline upwards and not flat. Thus the cages are in our garage. They are easy to clean and I have a 6 gallon water container on top of their cages and there is no weight issue at all. Plus, I'm incubating another 52 eggs right now and if I have a successful hatching, I will be purchasing more hatching time cages. We raise the birds mainly for their eggs. We sell a lot of Quail eggs locally. You will really love the cages. 🙂

I've been watching craigslist ( the unit i discussed above sold before I could decide) and just found a 3 tier layer set up, plus 1 brand new brooder tier and one grow out tier for $700 which I think is a fair deal. we also found a farm innovators 4250 incubator with egg turner for $50 bucks. SO...i think we are close to having what we need to begin. Can you do a video on what's involved with selling the quail eggs, how you go about it, what to charge, etc. The cages im getting dont have the larger floor openings, so I may stick with bob whites or another smaller species. I want to make sure the poop will fall thru the floor.

@rbljackson yes, I can do a video of how we were able to sell direct to a couple of markets here. It will be short though. There are many ways to sell your eggs. I'm still getting over a bronchial sickness. It's almost gone but my voice is still suffering at the moment lol.. looks like you've got it going! That's exciting!
