Share your masking fluid horror stories. Mine happened with this video! I was just starting to apply the frisket when I accidentally dumped almost the whole container onto my drawing, my table, my clothes, my fabric covered chair and the floor! Oh my! Here is my tip from that experience. Get all cloth into water as quickly as possible. Use lemon Essential oil to get off remaining bits after you wash out what you can.

Oh yuk, sounds like something I would do....spill frisket all over everything. In fact, I did. Second time I was so mad I threw the whole darn bottle away, (what was left). Since then I rarely use but try with the Fineline bottles, keep them really clean and have better luck, (impossible to spill.

I found a but of damp torn kitchen sponge dipped in masking fluid makes the loveliest random pattern for things like sea foam.

I use a straight pin to comb out particles in the base section.

I’ve always had my product dry up and become a gooey mess way too fast. I see you even left the lid off the bottle while using it. I’ve not tried the Frisket so I don’t have history with it but I’ve tried other expensive ones which the same problem. Any suggestions? Can you add water or other liquid to the masking fluid to thin it back down? Thank you for any help you can give.👍👍

I do water it down. I should have made that the number one tip. I used filtered water. I believe I mentioned watering it down in the section that explains using a pen tip. Let me know how it goes!!

Applying masking fluid is tough. I do water down the fluid but watered fluid is very difficult to remove. It sticks like a film to the paper

@@thewatercolorclassroom-bec7040 yes it is except when it cannot be removed without damaging the sheet.. I think it is the consistency of the masking fluid that should be carefully noted before applying to the paper. Too thick, too thin spoils the painting.
