Know of one that can deepen my voice to match what I hear when I speak? The acoustics of my cranium to blame for that one.
@Tera_B_Twilight2 ай бұрын
@@bobpeters61 I wouldn't say any really do that, but a good condenser mic with a high bit rate can get more of the full range of your voice than the cheaper usb varieties. It's been a while since I've done any vo work, but you can usually find out what kind of equipment youtubers are using and compare the results.

When I heard my voice for the first time. I really don't like it. I asked myself " Do I always sound squeaky" I thought I have a bit deep sexy voice. My illusion was shattered😅 Beside method 3. I got inspired by the cartoon voice actor. They have squeaky voice like sponge bob. But why they're sound good. I realized is how they pronounce and deliver their words.

Slavoy Zizek is a great example of unique voices that almost defies categorization. He looks strange, he sounds strange, he thinks strange, and it is wonderfully engaging with a mind that takes you to strange and fascinating places. It is kind of like a dysmorphia when we reject our own voice like rejecting the reflection in a mirror. Ive dealt with it and still am so am so happy that you've been able to move past the "cringe". Great message, thanks and hopefully Hubby finds a way to accepting his voice too.

I have a decent sized channel with over 7K subs and obviously this is my alt account. I like how you back up your logic with experience and logical reasoning. I see enormous potential for you to be very successful here and on other platforms! Keep being authentic and yourself and you will go far! I love your simple and straight to the point style! Also love the environment your in! So beautiful!

Thanks. I started my channel 5 weeks ago and it is definitely something I had to get over and accept. It is what it is lol. I still chose to offer faceless content, maybe in time I will change that. Definitely a learning curve where I do have to improve some ways I talk, stop breathing too close to mic and limit my mumbling/blending words (thank goodness I can edit a louder volume and clip some words). I will improve over time. Like the majority there's no Hollywood budget :)
@ByPageTurner2 ай бұрын
Honestly, faceless is a really solid approach! Looking at my favorite KZbin channels, they're a mix of faceless and... faceful??? Haha... there's probably a better word for that. But yeah. There are some REALLY good faceless channels I watch all the time (these days that includes lots of video essays on amusement parks and businesses).

Always timely. Always so relevant. It isn't my voice I hate. LOL. It's the face...Some say I need to be on screen more, some say less and some say not at all.

Listen, as someone that is neurodivergent: I could care less about the person's appearance. If anything, sometimes certain appearances distract me from the video. So in all reality: if you just look like you, even if you feel plain or gross....I'm still gonna wanna hear what you have to say! I don't watch KZbin for physical reasons. I like to learn and listen. Also, I think most people underestimate how endearing they can be for their quirks and little odd mannerisms. Most of the people that are well liked are liked because they let those shine. So like you said: be authentic, and don't hide what you have to say out of fear!

Excellent video, great explanation! Thanks also for the reminder - I remember how nervous I was when I presented my thesis work over 20 years ago. It wasn't on video but I was absolutely dying in front of everyone, but when I was done I somehow got a lot of praise for my talk and presentation and I was so surprised. :) These days though I can't stand not only my voice and picture, in video or real life, but also my writing, no matter if I write in my native German or in English.. I often end up deleting anything I wrote because it doesn't read right (maybe it's there are always words and phrases I can't remember or translate and then it doesn't feel like 'me' anymore). But anyway, thanks for the advice! Who knows, maybe this will inspire me to make a video one day :) YT probably recommended your video to me because I watched a 'starting a youtube channel' type of video the other day lol

The train of thought thing is very real!! I tend to work with a script or at least an outline I've written ahead of time that I can reference when I get on camera. But there are STILL times I lose my train of thought even so. Basic editing helps a lot with that? I can clip out a lot of the mess ups. So it was definitely worth it for me to get used to the sound of my own voice (I still don't love it, but it at least doesn't bother me now.)

I don't edit and I do all my videos in one go! Unfortunately I don't have funds to hire an editor. Interesting that you say to put your face on the thumbnail as in those cases my channel didn't do so well. It could be that the video content wasn't that great though and not because of my face! Some great advice again Page! I have gone through the cringe and I don't mind the sound of my voice. People can always turn the volume down and just watch me instead!
@ByPageTurner2 ай бұрын
Yeah -- the face advice is very niche dependent. So depending on what exactly you're doing, your results can vary. It does bear out on KZbin as a whole. Interestingly it doesn't even have to be YOUR face. It can be the video's subject if it's a documentary, a video game character, a famous person, etc. That said, there are other ways to get the eyes to stop and hover :) The face trick is just one.

idk why but somehow i ended up as a no cam no mic streamer. i've heard that simply having a face at all is so important that even a cartoon or inhuman one will work, but no face and no voice is a horrible combination, even if you make yourself a vtuber and use TTS to speak. of course some people can get away with anything. any rules people might agree on to explain how content creation works are always being broken by people who just make it work somehow

@ByPageTurner2 ай бұрын
Okay, first off, I love your channel name! It's sooooo good. I would probably create a new separate channel in your case, so long as it wouldn't stress you out to manage both. I started this channel for similar reasons (my first channel is an RV travel channel I co-host with my husband). I would also say to have fun on your personal channel and post what you want and not worry too much about how it does? I think it's nice to have a place on KZbin that's low pressure and you can do whatever you want with it. Separating it into its own channel helps mentally/emotionally that way... and also the algorithm doesn't get as confused.
