The difference in dynamic between 2014 and 2015 TIHC is so insane. Here, you can tell they're still getting used to playing these songs and there's a nervous energy the entire set. 2015, they come fully prepared and completely own that awkward energy. And they just get more and more seasoned every year they're a band.

this video simultaneously makes me want to see COK ridiculously bad, but further reinforces my hatred of hardcore shows, the people throwing fists and jumping and just generally being ridiculous. I do really like this band, just picked the 2 albums up today, but I'm really not big on the drummer's vocals here. On record and such they sound great, whereas in this there's no diction. I don't know whether his mouth's too close to the mic or what, but I can't hear a word he's saying. When he pitches his voice lower it sounds good, but it always seems to revert back to this monotonous yelp he does. It's a shame, I really like this set otherwise.
@dannightingale95928 жыл бұрын
+michelle martinez First off, calm down. Secondly, it's his voice I'm not big on, the fact he drums at the same time doesn't change how his vocals sound, he's perfectly capable of doing both things separately and together, or else he probably wouldn't be in the band. So yeah, nice job on trying to have a valid point but better luck next time.
@confrontingchaos75938 жыл бұрын
I think his voice is strained or blown. I am a vocalist as well, and my screaming technique is not very good so I don't have good endurance (I'm a much better singer). When I scream too much for too long, it starts to sound like his does in this video. Kind of shrill, lose most of my tone, etc. So it's possible his voice is just exhausted from touring, didn't properly warm up, doesn't have the best technique, whatever.
@bryansteedman82728 жыл бұрын
It's also somewhat because of the recording as well. Pretty sure the audio is recorded from the soundboard so it's a lot "cleaner" then it would be otherwise. If you were at the venue his vocals wouldn't be as audible behind the instruments, but because of how it's recorded here the vocals stand out and it's a lot more noticeable how different they sound compared to the album (or if you were in the venue at the time).
@xziggyx12 жыл бұрын
I mean imo this is pretty much how he sounds. Live or on album. On drums or off.
