This was “the sound” back in the day. Small snare like 13x7 or 12x7 just absolutely cranked. It gained a ton of popularity in hardcore and grindcore scenes. Makes me happy to see it still in use

Def either a 13x7 or a 12x7. Most likely a coated head of some kind. Many years ago this type of snare sound was super popular in hardcore and grind core bands. Me and my friends used to get this sound from a pork pie little squealer snare drum that was offered in both those sizes. You crank that bad boy down super tight and this was the sound. Glad to see it’s still used in the scene
