Your response was in defense of the technique, when a defense wasn't warranted. He may love flams, there is not enough info here to judge. He loves that there are none where there are supposed to be none. However, and I think we should all agree, it has nothing to do with the individual's appreciation for a technique that isn't apparent, but the lack thereof.

Showing off your musicianship is what's cool for me. Not a complex beat for you by any stretch. Yet you choose to play the tone and range of the entire kit, at the appropriate times, to maximize the song's impact.
