Richard Sinclair is one of the greatest bass players and singers ever from GB!

Canterbury - and Hatfields in particular = endless summers in quiet green fields before the pressures and strains of adulthood. Drugs before they were a problem, the world before it told me how to run my life. Always loved Richard's voice.

This is one of those band who whenever I hear their music it takes me back 45 years to my mother’s house, sunlight streaming through the blinds, my dad in the garden, and me sitting by the hifi, holding an album sleeve in my hands, reading every word for the hundredth time. It’s like a warm blanket, and I will always love it.

These Prog Canterbury musicians have a history only few of us know, and we are blessed we found them and then they enriched our lives with their music add Dave Stewart! RIP some of them!

Lordy, I miss Pip and Phil, and a list of their associates who have also moved on. But, as the previous commenter said, we were fortunate to have lived in this world with them for a time. This is such beautiful and rich music -- thank you so much for sharing this.

Thanks so much for posting this - had Pip and Andy Ward and others in for two shows (spent three days with them and they crashed at my place) Met Stewart & Gaskin at a record shop in Lansing where they did a short gig. Good times back in the day when I worked in radio and did concerts. I'm now retired and miss those days!

I wish this line-up of Hatfield got to record an album. "Psycho Warrior" must be a tribute to the late, great Elton Dean. I just about cried.

Everybody realizes Phil isn't dead, yeah? I was recently (as in, last week)corrected about this. The rumors of his passing have been somewhat exaggerated, though I believe Richard is still gone 😢🥲 but he's left us this. Can't help wondering about the absence of the presumably (hopefully) alive-at-the-moment Dave Stewart...

Glad they lasted long enough to still jam.I dont think they ever did any bay area shows? Of course now it would be without P.P..Rip....or Caravan except Sausalito 1974?

Elton Dean
@coadmiller50102 жыл бұрын
I believe that the sax photos are of Elton Dean, who had only just recently passed @ this time. I gotta say, both Phil and Pip are looking rather paunchy here, and I'm not saying it because I'm overly concerned about physical appearances, after all, we all get older.. It's that neither were long for this world here, and though I'm not sure thier respective cause of death, I still wish they would have taken better care of themselves, and maybe they would still be around, and we wouldn't miss them so much....
@myworms2 жыл бұрын
Phil passed from cancer, so his weight didn’t have much to do with it. As for Pip, I believe that I know why, but I won’t disrespect his family and friends by publicizing it here.
@jamiepastman55942 жыл бұрын
How come Stewart didn't want to do it? Great job by Mr Maguire, he's a really excellent player (better jazz pianist than Stewart actually), but it's kind of like ELP without Emerson.

after getting a chance to listen to this all the way through - I think they are better than this - I hope I can find the rest of the concert somewhere! This sounds too jammy, I'd like to hear more structure to the pieces.

I've never heard them before so cant compare to anything but it sounds good. Maybe they like a jam sometimes...
