Oh, I just finished reading the time machine the other week! He goes soooo far into the future it's ridiculous, and man, it got a bit intense, I couldn't stop thinking about that story after I finished it. It was very good though! It was one short story in a large collection of H.G. Wells short stories I bought, so I would say it's worth it, lol, but I think only you can determine if it really is worth your time or not, haha

My best guess is that he half-remembered that the Scots themselves came from Ireland.
