For your light problem: you can place (right click) torches (wood and animal fat) and candles (plant fibres and animal fat). Torches create a large heat-map which attracts zombies, but candles only create a small heat-map, but provide less light as well. Torches and candles are both meant to be put on the wall, so if you place them on the ground then they'll float, but you can craft "table candles" from a normal candle if you want to put them on the floor without them floating. Ultimately you want to use electric lighting, but that requires a good bit of iron/steel and a generator (so a project for later on in the series). For the crafting icons: a hammer is normal inventory crafting, campfire needs a fire, anvil needs a forge, conical flask needs a chemistry station, workbench needs a workbench, cement mixer needs a cement mixer, circular saw needs a table saw (I think I covered them all)

Little advice for the boys, turn your Terrain Quality to the lowest setting. It's not exactly noticeable BUT offers a huge performance boost and should stop those annoying frame drops or cut them to minimal levels. Worked for me. The next update is already being tested and is gonna optimise stuff so hopefully 19.2 will be even better.

Yeesh. Unless something's changed in the latest patches, putting spikes in a dirt-lined trench is really just giving the zombies a head start at undermining your base. Best to just build it one block higher and put your spikes at ground level.

I really don't get this game.. it looks so bad I would never even consider it. Looks like it was made in 1998.. Friends play it and the graphics are so warped it gives me headaches.

Not everything is about game graphics. And I say that as an artist who loves for things to look aesthetically pleasing. But in the case of 7D2D you get used to the look of it and end up not caring much because the gameplay is just really enjoyable. Also the hordes every 7th night adds some really nice tension and goals to the game. Well it’s fine if it’s just not for you. At least you can still enjoy listening to the boiks.
