The premiere episode of the short lived ABC-TV sitcom,which aired during the 1961-62 season.The show starred Peggy Cass,Jack Weston,and the Marquis Chimps.This show was considered so bad that they usually couldnt find a sponsor.In this one they lucked out,so there are ads for Chex Cereal included.Guest star is George Ives,best known as Lank Dailey in the classic movie Hot Rods To Hell.

When this show first aired I was in the second grade. At that point I was loving chimpanzees and remembered the movie Toby Tyler from the year before. The Hathaways was a favorite show of mine-and I was sad when it ended after only one season.

You did see The Partridge Family house, and the houses from "Hazel", "Bewitched", and "I Dream Of Jeannie". Those model homes were all shot and filmed on the Columbia Pictures studio lot. The show as it said in the very beginning was a Screen Gems production. That opening logo is very rare from 1961, and only two Screen Gems shows opened with it. This show and the TV detective drama "Shannon." Both shows were cancelled by 1962. The Marquis Chimps also appeared in the Columbia movie "Stop, Look, And Laugh", with Paul Winchell and his dummies, with old footage of The Three Stooges with Curly Howard spliced in. the Stooges eventually sued Columbia pictures for that movie , since they prepared it while The Stooges were over at rival 20th Century Fox, filming "Snow White & The Three Stooges". Moe Howard said that the movie was made without their permission or participation.
