I was not stoked to go to Skypark at Santa's Village. I used to love the mountain bike trails at Skypark, but just couldn't get into them. Why was that?

Hate gets real sometimes! Good to get all the selves together and hash it out. Getting stoke is often an inside job. Ooh the F you contests I have in my head with myself sometimes. I’m wearing the scarlet A on my shirt for not appreciating my trails right now. I’m fantasizing about the most boring trails now. Haven’t graced a trail since 9/1 due to smoke/fire. Guna be giggles and candyland when it clears up. Deals at the crossroads not to miss fall riding. Alans, good work buddies! You’ve helped keep me sane! I’d ride with all of ya any day.

Great vid! I was just there on Friday. Fun trails, but I'd enjoy a more intermediate jumpline between Arrow and Neverland Jumpline (i.e., Blue Steel). The Jumpline is not forgiving when you case the jumps. Unlike Partywave/Westridge where you can land on tabletops and roll some of the jumps when you're still progressing.

Nice vid. I was supposed to be at Snow Summit but fires closed their season. So it was SKYPARK for fri, sat and sun. It was fun and I used the time to practice and improve. Did you or have you done the Session Jump?

Hey Alan, I have a question, Im far from an advanced rider and pretty much take it easy for the most part, i have a new 27.5 Trail bike coming in 3 weeks, it has 140 rear and 150 up front travel, will i be ok at Skypark or Big Bear? I really like the looks of that green and a few blue trails at Big Bear, I wont be hitting any Black trails any time soon. Thanks Frank.

Hi Frank! That's rad. At Skypark, you'll be totally fine. At Snow Summit (Big Bear), you'll be good. I rode all the trails at Summit on my old Recluse (140/150), and it was older geometry. But as you suggest, the bike is the lesser of the limiting factor, and your skill level will act as your limiting factor. Fortunately, Snow Summit now has Blue Steel, so you can get the fun of smaller jumps and transfer over to Turtle. And you con't have to step into the high speed pace of Partywave and Westridge. Also have a look at the trails that come off the back side of the mountain, Fall Line and the combo of Pirates to Plumbers Plunge to Fern. Those are less travelled but still well-maintained and a lot of fun. They land you a little ways away from the bike park, but it's an easy and uncomplicated way back. Trailforks will help you out there. Yew! I'm looking forward to bike park season! 🤘🏾

When you turn off of a lip to get rotation for a whip, 360, and other tricks that need rotation

"Carving off the lip" is what I do to get my awesome facial air. 😆 Seriously though, carving off the lip means turning just a bit as your headed up the lip so that your bike is offline as you get into the air. Once offline, you maneuver to get your front wheel back to straight. And depending on how you carved and how you bring your front wheel back to straight, you'll do a different "trick". Hope that helps!

The reservation system is really just a formality. You can stay all day you’re basically just picking a rough time to arrive. I’ve always gotten there a bit later than my reservation, and people without reservations have been able to just sign up onsite and go in basically right away

Hey Ryan B. Much thanks for the response. Getting there late might be ok. But I'm guessing early is not allowed/overlooked. And I prefer to ride first thing in the morning. But that means I have to look for a Sunday reservation with availability. I'd more than likely camp across the street the night before as well. But oh well...
