I've had my Hatsan 125 for years. It's chambered in .22 cal. and I got mine with a gas piston installed before they came out with the Vortex piston. It's incredibly accurate, and powerful.

Thank you for doing this review. I live in Florida so cold weather isn't a problem. I couldn't decide if buying the gas version over the springer was worth the extra money. What convinced me was finding out about the extra FPEs you pick up with the springer and more importantly, when you shot the two, I couldn't tell the difference in sound between them. I was expecting a nasty twang with the springer but could tell no difference in sound between the two. Check out PIgman's video on KZbin where he takes a hog out with a brain shot using a .177 caliber pellet with Gamo's "magnum" class air rifle which has the same fps as the Hatsan 125, Well done!

Can't wait til mine arrives this week. I love my 177 Gamo Silent Cat, but I heard really good things about this one. Got it in 22 because 25+ it becomes more expensive etc when it comes to ammo. Got a good UTG scope coming to go with it too.

i have this rifle with the nitro piston upgrade . the best pellet i have found for mine is the jsb 15.89 gr. it cocks and shoots very smooth, hits very hard. great rifles in spring or gas ram .. very accurate at longer ranges. i also have the orignal spring that came out of it when P.A.. done the upgrade. so i have a back up.. not much of a benjaman fan because of very bad exsperances with the titan and the trail. Thanks for your very good vids . you do a great job. p.s would love to see you do a review on the hatsan mod. 95.

One thing to remember with the question is it worth 40$ more is that with the gas you can leave it locked and loaded for a much longer time than you can with a spring. And from what i have heard is that spring guns lose power over time thought i have no clue if that's true. And last thing is that the gas should have less recoil than the spring version i would think. PS love your work here and you have help me diced witch air rifle i will be buying with the good old tax return =)

Kenny love ur reviews as always man. I have a bit of a problem with my Hatsan 125 nitro piston and I was wondering if u can help. As of lately it's losing power and it's not accurate any more. Could it be the Piston or Piston seal? I can't even get good groups withing 8 yards. It shoots all over the place and pellets are just bouncing of ply woods that it use to shoot right through. It use to be really accurate at 100 yards but now I can't even get hole in hole at 8 yards. And it's a bit louder than before also.

Sounds like it might have blown the breech seal. Put a piece of tissue over breech after you close the barrel. If that seal is blown it will blow the tissue off.

I'm still waiting on my back ordered 125 Sniper Vortex from Pyramyd Air. Have been reading many reviews, And many people are complaining about the safety, Stating it wobbles a lot and many times won't disengage without playing with the safety button, Have you had any issues with yours ? I don't understand how ordinary car valve springs can reciprocate so fast, say 2300 times a minute, for 200,000 miles; and sit for days or years in compression, and function within, or close to, specs at the end. Yet there's a lot of speculation on air rifle springs wearing out just sitting compressed for a few days. Has anyone made an investigation of the accuracy of the claims about the non-enduring springs? Any tests?

I have had the same issue and from what I determined was that I was holding the gun differntly with the heavier scope on it. Fixed the problem by sighting in the scoped gun using a light but sturdy photo tri-pod. Still resting the forearm on my hand with a light grip, but not a strong grip on the pistol grip. I would place my thumb when shooting near the safety. And really focus on the exact trigger pull. By sighting in with the tripod, I can take that with me and know I will be holding the gun the exact same way when hunting. Yes its one more thing to carry in the field, but it worth it to actually go out and hit what your aiming at..

@pericodelospalotes5738
@pericodelospalotes5738 9 жыл бұрын
+myairgunreviews When people talk about the durability of gas rams they always forget the durability of the piston rubber seals. All in all, time will show you will have to open a gas ram rifle as often as a springer counterpart but with the last one you will have a full new powerplant for only some few, very few dollars, which is the cost of a new spring. It is like having again a brand new rifle. People who say gas rams don't lose air (nitrogen) have no experience over the years because it is a new tecnology on airguns. In cars is a well known fact gas rams lose their performance over the years.

My black stock standard model 125 vortex .25 gets 34fpe with crow magnums and 32fpe with Air Arms 25.40gr pellets. I owned or used them all. I STILL own my 125 and a 150, and another 125 in .22 on the way and ..... 125 vortex 25cal. Standard is a bit more power, more barrel from what I've seen online maybe but no vortex are now not weaker than metal spring etc. I will be buying all in all calibers, 125,150,155,130,135 then pcps. Npxl in 25cal is weak at 24fpe.....my 177 caliber HATSAN Torpedo does 24fpe with 8.64gr pellets lol. And i have accuracy to spare. 125 i a live field gun, 150 is target,range stationary gun. My view. Old post i know lol but that's my views. You will love it if you don't yet but go get the 125 vortex.

Update. My 125 vortex sniper 22cal is getting 33fpe avg with 14.3gr. Shorter barrel is harder to cock but I'm GUESSING they NOW have a higher pressure type 2 piston than the other type 2 in my standard as its right there in power despite the barrel. Get newer models if you can though. Hatsan honors there returns if not up to par however you would need to check the spam folder....thats their only real issue I've had. If it's messed up just send it in they'll take care of it. The older ones had many flaws but current are great for the money imho. Superior to the octane in every way imho though the octane is a good gun.

myairgunreviews Midway USA , has the hatsan sniper springer with the Quattro trigger 22 cal or 177 on sale for 189.00 thats 100 dollars less than the air ram so I grabbed it . And I read on the GTA forum as long as it has the quattro trigger it would fit but I don't know if any modification was needed .So I figured if I wanted to I could always change it out . But I like my 1987 rws 45 springer . I shoot it all the time and it still shoots like it did in 87 so I don't know how you can ask for more than that . That's 27 years shooting with the same spring and still going strong. And who know how long the air ram is going to hold up .If you ask me its like anything else the more parts like o-rings inside the piston to keep it all sealed up to hold pressure the more likely you are spending more time fixing than shooting. And what do you gain from the air piston ,slightly less kick.I kind of like the feel of a spring. I think your right if your out walking around hunting in 10 deg weather your going to be shaking so bad from the cold your not going to be able to notice the little bit of deviation between the two guns. And that hundred dollars you saved can go a long way on a good parallax scope or 13 cans of 500 count pellets thats 6500 pellets , that will let you shoot 17 pellets a day every day for 1 year .

Was looking at the 135 Vortex and I like it a lot but don't want to go thru the hassle of front sight removal and buying a muzzle break. Power on both guns is very close with the 135 having the same power stroke yet a little more volume, so it should possible be better for very heavy pellets, but I don't know that for a fact.

+Peter Magnusson Think this way, man: how many shots can I expect before I need to replace the weakest part from the powerplant, which is the rubber seal? When I replace the seal do I want to have a new rifle with a new spring (cheaper) or will I keep on using the same Vortex, maybe leaking a bit?

we have been getting -30* F weather in ky and the spring version does not work at all, i have a hatsan striker 1000 spring version and it gets one foot size groops at 20 yards below 20* F after a few shots or minutes when I still get a 2" group at 100 yards at any temperature with my hatsan 125TH nitro piston

what caliber for the 125 is best for long range?
@myairgunreviews
@myairgunreviews 9 жыл бұрын
+Dustin Waterham .25 cal will have more down range energy if you can find a accurate pellet. I go with .22 cal because you have so many more pellets to choose from and a better chance of finding that real accurate pellet.

Do you have any plans to adjust the adjustable vortex piston and compare results? I'm not sure how high you can air them, but many are taking them from stock 135 to 150.

No. This can't be done by the average user. You have to break down the gun and have the PCP equipment to increase the charge. The majority of Airgunners can't work on their own guns and this process requires even more equipment a knowledge that the average airgun rebuilder has, so I won't be doing that.

Do you think the new Gamo Magnum .22 is a nicer rifle?
@myairgunreviews
@myairgunreviews 7 жыл бұрын
The Magnum is more like the 125 that costs $60 less than the Magnum plus the 125 is also available in .25 cal so I lean toward the Hatsan.

Have you had to do any o-ring replacements on any of your Hatsan's? If so, how difficult is it? I've got a 125 sniper that would easily send pellets beyond the sound barrier and sound like a 22 rimfire. Then I noticed the accuracy and power drop significantly, and not just needing a cleaning. I recently picked up a chrony and the 125 is shooting formerly "hot" pellets at a mere 600 fps now. And I've experienced dust and debris blowback in my face, leading me to believe there is an air leak somewhere. Hopefully only an O-ring. Anyway, any knowledge would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. O, ya it's got several thousands of rounds through it. Tens of thousands even. It was a great rifle. That's why I'm hoping to fix it myself.

+bud morse The question is: Does the Police check often their velocity or just see the brand and model? There are many ways to improve the power of an air rifle. Buy one with a long air chamber and install a stronger spring, you can buy abroad any spring or go to the USA by car and return with it.
