Cartoon Network Latin America always had more than one signal, currently I think there are three or five signals. If I'm not mistaken at that time there were two signals, a signal from the United States for northern Latin America and another signal from Argentina for southern Latin America. Why did I mention the signals of Cartoon Network Latin America? Since you are from Mexico, we can say that the signal from the north transmitted Powerpuff Girls Z, and since I am from Argentina, we can say that the signal from the south also transmitted Powerpuff Girls Z. In conclusion, in Latin America Powerpuff Girls Z was broadcast.

Powerpuff Girls Z is a show I’ve been meaning to watch, partly because of it being an anime based on USA cartoon and my soft spot for anime girls. 😊 It’s really weird this show has never gotten a chance to air in the States especially since it has an English dub. The closest I think it’s ever gotten to that was a fan stream group called NeoToonami putting it on their lineup. Toonami has aired PPG material in the past so I could definitely see this airing during their CN days. The origin story you mentioned kind of reminds me of Tokyo Mew Mew.

I liked PPG Z when I was a kid (luckly it aired in Brazil at the time), but I couldn't handle how Blossom was the only one who compleatly changed her personality in this version. She went from the smart one to basically a copypasta from Sailor Moon's Serena/Usagi. It was very frustraiting to see her getting red notes on tests at school while the original one could even speak fluent mandarin.
@pablocasas5906
@pablocasas5906 4 ай бұрын
I think the Japanese writers wanted to portray Blossom as a more typical Magical Girl/Shōjo heroine, and those are typical not the most very bright students, like Serena from Sailor Moon, Lucy/Hikaru from Rayearth and Sakura from Cardcaptors. Ironically, Blossom was voiced in Neutral Spanish on both the cartoon and anime by Cristina Hernández, who's also famous for voicing Sakura Kinomoto in Cardcaptors Sakura and Chibi-Usa in the original Sailor Moon and Crystal

Well at least most of the CN Real stuff was skipped there, a major relief. From the featured shows here I have a lot of memories watching the El Santo shorts during the ad breaks multiple times. Didn't even know it was based on an actual wrestler until years later since I'm not Mexican. And based on what other people have said, Latin CN did make a bigger push for PPGZ compared to the US so it fared much better there. And it even brought back the majority of the voice cast of the original PPG latin spanish dub.

@@KremBotop I'm not from Mexico but I'm from Latin America and I remember when the "Santo contra los Clones" came out, they even showed some behind the scenes clips. Something pretty cool about the Santo shorts is that El Santo's voice actor, Alberto Pedret, actually voiced the wrestler in some of his movies, yes the wrestler's real voice was dubbed over in his movies for some reason About PPGZ, I was a fan of the original show but I only saw some clips of the anime, I'm glad that they managed to keep the Neutral Spanish cast almost intact, the only major exception was Buttercup, her original voice actress Rossy Aguirre (Sailor Mercury, Akane Tendo) had some issues with the dubbing studio
@KremBotop
@KremBotop Жыл бұрын
@@pablocasas5906 Well, even Arnold Schwarzenegger was dubbed over in his earlier movies so it's no wonder that El Santo dealt with the same thing. Still, it's neat that the VA returned for the shorts. And wasn't Gendy's Clone Wars airing at the same time? With the clones in both series' titles. Same here, watched the OG PPG a lot as a kid and was intrigued by PPGZ though it came out at a time when I was watching Nick a lot more often so I didn't end up seeing much from it. Wouldn't mind taking a proper look later. Shame about Buttercup's recast ofc, that should've been the beginning of the end of CN's working relationship with longtime dubbing studio Sensaciones Sónicas as the issues there would then increase a lot more in the following years. And I think Him was also recast too. Though when it comes to the returning VAs, Blossom's VA Cristina Hernández already had plenty of experience dubbing Magical Girl anime with her previous roles as Sailor ChibiMoon and Sakura Kinomoto, so voicing this anime take on Blossom should've been a smooth transition.
@pablocasas5906
@pablocasas5906 Жыл бұрын
@@KremBotop I think Genndy's Clone Wars shorts aired around 2003 and 2005, before Revenge of the Sith came to theaters. I'm glad that they managed to keep the dub voice cast of the movies for the shorts. Speaking about the Powerpuff Girls, it's kind of funny that they main girls and some of the cast also worked on magical girls anime like Sailor Moon. Blossom was voiced by Cristina Hernández who voiced Chibi-Moon, though in a couple of episodes she was replaced by Vanessa Garcel who actually voiced Chibi-Moon is his first appearance and in episodes 72-74 Blossom was voiced by Circe Luna who voiced Sailor Star Healer and Palla-Palla; while Rossy Aguirre (Buttercup) voiced Sailor Mercury and her replacement in PPGZ Mariana Ortiz is the daughter of the late Araceli de León who voiced Sailor Jupiter; and Maggie Vera who voices Bubbles voiced Queen Serenity in Sailor Moon Crystal Eternal

Powerpuff Girls Z was what was on TV when I was a kid during lunchbreaks on weekdays so it was usually what I watched on my free time. Now that I am on a nostalgia high, I would LOOOOVE a reboot of PPGZ in a more young adult theme like how My Adventures with Superman is executed. It's just so perfect and the existing villains serve as great commentaries of the real world so it would 100% fit a mature approach on the show. Mojo Jojo about animal cruelty, Gangreen Gang about poverty, Princess Morbucks about classism, Sedusa about body dysmorphia, Rowdyruff Boys as toxic masculinity, and then HIM as the final villain as he is "pure evil" personified.

A good thing that i adore about older cn brazil is that they would dub whatever show they could get their habds onto and put it on air. One taht lives in my head rent free is walter and tandoorii. A show about a man and a chiken about recycling and stuff. It was very entertaining

I’ve watched Powepuff Girl Z, Villainous, and Lamput. I’m so excited to start watching some of these other shows soon too though. I watched Villainous and Lamput with my nephew earlier this year, but I watched Powerpuff Girl Z when I was in middle school, I might try and show that to my nephew since some of the episodes are on YT…

Ivandoe currently airs on CN Canada (previously Teletoon), so I might give that a look sometime. All CN Canada has to its name at the moment is killing off a Canadian staple, but maybe that’ll change in the future.

Frankelda reminds me a bit of Mary Shelly's Frankenhole. For those who don't know, Frankenhole is a stop-motion dark comedy series from the creators of Moral Orel. And Any Malu sounds like a less random Space Ghost Coast to Coast. 19:04 Who is the man in the suit? Who is the cat with the beak?

Loving this stuff, you are excellent at selling your points about these cartoons. International kids media is rather underrepresented so i wouldn't mind this being a regular thing, especially for stuff like game shows, regional events or even exclusive content from recognizable figures (Johnny Bravo comes to mind).

Random one… the Latin American version of toonami on Cartoon Network had the Sony dub of Rurouni Kenshin. This version pronounced Kenshin as Kenshi and the show was called samurai X. DBZ and sailor moon were in Spanish.

23:29 Huh, kind of reminds me of Space Ghost Coast to Coast and JBVO (Toon FM outside of the US) with how they had the live animation rigs, the improv voice acting (I mean I'm sure _most_ of JBVO's host segments ar scripted), Space Ghost would interview celebrities and Johnny would call viewers and sometimes talk to Cartoon Network guest characters. Maybe they can dust off JBVO and turn it into an interview show like when they turned Toon FM into whatever Viva Las Bravo was.

Kind of ironic that a video dissing on Wild Thornberry's, a show about exploring many parts of the world, also talks about CN's international shows. Clicked for Powerpuff Girls, stayed for the comedy.

11:29 Reminds me of the Japanese dub of MLPFiM and this bizarre scene in an episode of Miraclous Ladybug that recently released on D+ where Gabriel Agreste is dancing to an untranslated French swing song called En Claquant Des Doigts. Apparently there's a later episode not yet on D+ where it's sung by Gabriel's nephew Félix who's been akumatized into the supervillain (have to specify the super part because he is already a villain), Argos where it _was_ translated.

Here on mexico and latam we got tons of unique bumpers, the ones themed after día de los muertos are a highlight from me There where a bunch for Ben 10, some even showed unique new aliens, as the show was huge in latinoamerica and Brazil Another thing that made the shows so much weird here where the dubs, as some of the more comedic shows got way too much freedom when adapting them to Latinoamérica, for example, Ed Edd N Eddy, Pokémon and KND where filled to the brim with local jokes and references, stuff like Rolf from EEnE saying "Mi carne me pide sol y sexo/My meat is asking for Sun and Sex" or Eddy saying that double D looks like a table dancer Even the line-ups for shows was special, since a bunch of shows from teletoon, 4kids, Viz media and other channels ended up being aired on different channels over here, for example Yugioh aired on Nick and a channel called Zzzazzz, while most of digimon was stuck to Fox kids/Jetix/Disney XD(those are all the same channel, just rebranded as time went on) And due to licencing mumbo jumbos movies where also weird, as you could see things like the Hey Arnold movie and the Jimmy neutron movie airing on cartoon network along stuff like the original spiderman trilogy

Let's just say Powerpuff girls z at least did a reboot well. While also essentially making it more of a sequel series when you think about it, where the original girls existed.. But taking place in a different time period. Which gets proven when they have the series take place in NEW townsville instead of just Townsville.

Never, and i do mean never, in my wildest dream, would i have imagine seeing not one but TWO quality animated shows coming from my country. "Los sustos de Frankelda" seems to be more my alley and i didn't knew anything about it until this video. I know you said LATAM, but both shows are Mexican productions or co-productions with most of the talent being local. I actually am acquainted with one of the animators in "Villanos", with very minor involvement to be honest, but it took knowing her to realize the show was made in Mexico. I don't watch any of them, i am more of a manga/ comics guys. But i did watched the "El santo VS los Clones miniseries" back in the day. It was a huge deal here in Mexico coming with all kind of fanfare and spots in cartoon network Mexico (and maybe LATAM). How things have changed indeed. I also knew that powerpuff girls z was being broadcasted in Mexico too, why i didn't imagine was that it wasn't broadcasted in the States, it was obvious that the version we got wasn't adapted directly from the original japanese, so i assumed it was adapting from an amarican dub. Funny indeed.

Growing up in Japan in the 90s I had Sky Tv to get CN and Nick. It was mainly just old reruns and I dont remember if they changed the format like if there was cartoon cartoon fridays. There was a cool feature where you could get the original English audio and switch between that and Japanese dub. For everything else America though there was AFN
