This video is not monetized. I spent the past 2 months working on this video. I tried to make sure that everything would be fine in the copyright department by checking other people's 31 Minutos content featuring songs and clips. They were all fine but it turn out my video is not. If I were to try to fix the copyrighted content in some way, Filmora would probably crash. This video project file is 17-18 GB and neither my computer nor my editing software are particularly fond of it. I could trim out the parts that feature copyrighted content but that roughly 20 minutes of the video so there's no point in wasting all that time I put in to write and edit for those parts. I have Members now if you'd like to help with the whole "I just got monetized and my first big video got copyrighted so I can't make any money off of it regardless of it's view count" thing. It's $5 so if you can, that'd be nice and I'd appreciate it. I'll try to do more things for the Members stuff soon. I just need some time after working on this video. If I can't make money from this, I only hope I can get some people interested in the show so I have more friends to talk about it with. Thank you for watching.

just a small correction. The "Bailan sin Cesar" song is actually them singing about not letting Cesar dance as they say "Que no baile Cesar" and "Hasta que aparezca Cesar y lo arruine todo" and at the end they let Cesar dance and we see why he's not allowed to dance as he beats everyone up while trying to dance

If you are a fan of Juan Carlos Bodoque (like 99% of Chileans) you will like to know that during the quarantine, they made a miniseries focused on him. It is called “cuarentena 31” (quarantine 31), it was a collaboration with unicef to help children deal with the problems of the pandemic. In the first episode we learn that Juan Carlos is not only addicted to gambling, but also never finished school due to, and I quote, "some problems with the authority" (and there are photos of him gambling, being arrested and then, in jail)😂

The funny thing about the "Yo Opino" song is that it talks about how the character always have something to say about anything despite sometimes not being well informed, educated, etc. and at the same time he will defend and protect others opinions no matter if they are against its own so the visuals are fitting for the song, you can talk about war while he can talk about peace, it doesn't matter, the important thing is that both can talk about it

Something that all english speakers miss, is that here in Latin America, we have movies and cartoons voice dubbed with neutral spanish accents, but 31 Minutos has a HEAVY chilean accent and has a lot of chilean slangs, for a chilean kid watching this show, this was mind blowing, THEY SPEAK JUST LIKE US, AND THEY´RE FUNNY!!. Thanks to this show, a lot of latin american people understand and adopted some chilean slang. Thanks for this video and for beaking the cultural breach over there, I hope that more American people look at the good south american media we have over here.

It always has pisses me off how people often diss Chilean spanish as this incomprehensible mess no one can understand and completely disregarding how our language is greatly affected by the state of the country and our past. Yes, some sectors speak with little modulation and sound weird, is because the country itself suffers with a lot of poverty, specially on getto sectors, or rural areas where with any luck you got one school to accommodate the 3 children living in the area with one teacher, also, a lot of our slang is derived from native dialects and languages. Our country is home to a LOT of native groups that people from outside (and even inside, our country has a really bad problem with discrimination) treat as uneducated savages without even realizing that the backbone of our customs and culture come from them Yes, people call out we're prideful and smug about what little we got, but, that's the thing. We got so little, were such a small skinny country, we've gotten so much taken away from us, our human rights, our freedom, the lives of our people, we might as well just be aggressively loud about what we do have.

Fun fact: Jorge Gonzalez (the musician at 57:12) also made a special show with his band (Los Prisioneros) for the Teleton in 2002 in front of a whole stadium full of people and live on tv, before singing he throwed a hard and sarcastic critic about how it was nice that companies could transform the ego and wishes for attention from artirst to "help" children in need, the same companies that kept increasing the cost of supplies and services. The band then started singing "Quieren dinero" (They want money), a song about the hypocrisy of people and how everyone would do anything for money (he also dedicated the song to the founder of the Teleton 44:30). Again, in front of thounsands of people and live broadcast Just like 31 Minutos, they were never invited again, what a legend

Actually Gonzalez was part of the opening number of the 2016 edition, singing his song Fe alongside other singers. I’m Russian and I fell in love with this instantly, probably because my whole early childhood was build on “Good night, little ones!” (a TV show with puppets and a human guest/host that’s been on since USSR times). Thank you, and I mean THANK YOU for uncovering this Chilean gem. By the way, if you want to watch some Russian adult puppet shows that are equally funny - I can recommend “Cut the Lights!” (Тушите свет!) and “Puppets” (Куклы) that we had in the 90’s and early 00’s. It’s dark and hilarious, and I wish English-based auditory knew more about them.

As a chinese, I grew up watching 31 Minutos at Nickelodeon and had no idea it was from a a south american country. Since it was a version with chinese dub, some liberties had to be taken in the translation, especially regarding the songs, but I think the show remained very faithful to its core. And even though I'm not from Chile, it makes me very proud to see a latin american cartoon getting all the awards to recognition

I gotta say, a video of an American talking about 31 Minutos was definitely not something I expected to see today, but you really knocked it out of the park with this video. You have definitely gained a new subscriber. I'm Chilean and I grew up with this show and I can tell you it was huge here. Hell, it still is. My family and me still listen to the songs on Spotify, re watch some old episodes and quote them on occasion. The green note section was the best part and most people here agree that Juan Carlos was the best character. Also, a bit you didn't mention, but the song he sings where he gambles away everyone's presents is a parody of Jesus Christ superstar. Also, those stickers have numbers behind them because they belonged to a sticker album of the show. The numbers represent where they're supposed to go on the album. You might have more luck looking them up as "láminas album 31 Minutos" or just "Album de láminas 31 Minutos", as I've seen some people online selling the album with a bunch of sticker packs. Wish i knew how to send stuff over to America, seeing as I see street vendors still selling some simple 31 Minutos hand puppets fairly cheap around here, from Tulio, to Juanin and Juan Carlos.

I can't explain how important 31 Minutos is for Chilean culture, how many times has my family sung "They cut my hair wrong" when I was unhappy with my haircut, or how many times we have sung "Mi Muñeca me Habló" when on roadtrips. It is really interesting to see from a different perspective how many liberties they took for a show for children, here in Chile, swearing is quite a big culture thing and children are generally very exposed to it so in tv there isn't such the strict need to censor absolutely anything insulting, I'm pretty sure that "old motherfucker" Bodoque clip is not the only time there was reference to swearing. Overall, there are a lot of things in Chilean or latinamerican pop culture that have quite a lot of quality and if it wasn't for the language barier, would be just as popular in other places, I could talk for a while about stuff that was very important here and is not recognized at all outside.

The stickers are numbered because they are from a "sticker album", you buy the album (it's a book with blank spaces with numbers where you put the corresponding sticker) and buy the stickers separately in blind bags, so you don't know which one you are gonna get (usually you trade your repeats with other kids) It's fun when you're a kid but feels like a scam when you're an adult 😅

The fact that Melody simply does not understand what that "stickers" are, is super cute to me, in a really good way. Probably that's not a thing in the USA but here in latam, those stickers are called "Laminas" and you collect them in an "album", a book with facts and trivia written all over it. Of course, these "albums" were, in fact, quite amazing. Pokemon/dragonball/starwars theme albums were everywhere.

Like, you can be weird and funny and subversive and enjoyable for adult stoners, but STILL be TV-G about it? @naegling
@naegling Жыл бұрын
@naegling
@naegling Жыл бұрын

To anyone who has fall in love with the music of the show and wants more, I have two big recommendations, as mention in the video the Chilean rock funk band Chancho en Piedra which own guitarrist (ex guitarrist currently as Chancho en Piedra is retired) was the same who was behind the overall music of the show, Pablo also has several solo projects. While most of Chancho en Piedra albums are recommendable I specially recommend if you want to start hearing the band, start with the two disc live album Chancho 6, which is a compilation of some of their greatest hits from the bands golden age, also it shows how amazing they are on live performances. As for 31 minutos ost itself I also recommend the international tribute album "Yo nunca vi televisión..." which is a tribute album full of covers by famous latin american bands like Cafe Tacuba, Los Bunkers, Belanova, Bengala and some famous solo artists like Pedro Piedra, Siddhartah and Natalia Lafourcade for example. It shows how big the impact of the show is even with other artists.

I always loved the "Yo opino" song specially! as a kid it gave me the feeling that no matter what I had to say, it was always important and not less valuable for being a kid, it gave me a sense of empowerment against adults on my life that would always make me feel like I had no say in "adult conversations" and that a "good obedient kid just shut ups" Now as an adult I find comfort in it being a song also about freedom of expression! the beauty of life is all of us being capable of expressing ourselfs and keeping an open mind, you can choose what to believe and what to listen to, that's what freedom allows us to do

As a Chilean who grew watching the show, I can see why it wasn't picked up for the USA market, as you pointed out, not only the trailer is terrible but US audiences aren't ready for the wildness and edge of the show. Even when the show was brought to countries like Mexico some episodes where toned down censoring some scenes and words and you can't censor 31 Minutos because it erase part of it identity. A similar thing happened to another beloved Chilean cartoon named "Diego & Glot" which was all of the wall, but for it second season they wanted to make it "marketable", changing not only characters designs and animation, but also it's humor and it's music, making it a complete flop and not being exported somewhere else, basically, they removed everything that was Chilean. In a side note I don't think Juanin is the homosexual one but Policarpo, through the series there where thrown hints of it, especially in the season 4 episode "La cirujía" (the surgery).

There is a certain moment in 31 Minutos history that hits so hard, and I think it was the most emotional thing I've ever saw on TV. Back in 2014 when 31 Minutos performed at Lolapalooza festival, they played a good set of songs, then they "left", then returned for the encore and the show ended. People wanted more. The show already ended, in fact the stage was being dismantled, but people won't end asking for more... So they returned. Or at least one of them. Alvaro Díaz (co-creator, voice or Bodoque and lots of other characters), took a chair and his guitar, asked for a microphone and told people he would sing only one more, and then they have to leave, and then he started playing Dinosaurio Anacleto. Dinosaurio Anacleto could be a kind of rock ballad that talks about the singer, Dinosaurio Anacleto itself, the way he lost all of his friends on the ice age, he lived alone, become a musician and then fame and fortune came to him (the music video is mostly recorded inside his limousine), but besides all the money and fame he got, he still felt void because he had no real friends, and lonely was killing him, so he suddenly left everything behind and went seeking actual happiness. It's, imo, the most emotive song of 31M, and most people agree on that. Well, that's what Alvaro Díaz played. Alone, with his unplugged guitar on the stage. At the end you could feel him a bit moved by his own song, but unknown to him, there was a plot. He didn't notice that near the end of the song, all of the crew memebers went on stage and quietly start standing behind him, making company but letting him express his art without interrupting. He finished, looked back and notice all the support from his coworkers and friends, who rushed to hug him on stage. They cried, and I cried. This show means so much to many people...

Another fun fact: Cosas que Buscan Cosas is a segment that was very likely inspired by “Mea Culpa”, a true-crime show narrated by Carlos Pinto. He’s actually kind of a legend in the collective memory of early 2000s Chile. Mea Culpa had a very particular way to tell the stories of chilean serial killers and criminals: most chapters started by setting the scene, maybe showing some relatives of the offender, and then came a progressively tense display of the events that led to the crime. When the story reached its breaking point and the murder was about to happen, time froze and Carlos Pinto appeared on screen out of nowhere. He has a special talent to narrate the creepy and disturbing. The best parallel I can do between Bongo Stingo (presenter of Cosas que Buscan Cosas) and Carlos Pinto is that they both appear in a cloud of white smoke, kinda like fog. If you wanna watch another great chilean piece of media and you like true crime, I’d highly recommend Mea Culpa. Such a good show goddamn.

Something else to add is that "Cosas que buscan Cosas" it's also a clear reference to another chilean show: "Gente que busca Gente" (People looking for People) hosted by Franco Bagnato back in the late 90s. The show was literally about people wanting to reunite with others after a long time, so it's quite a literal title.

Secondly, Id' like to express my awe at the production value you put into this video! Even tho it's an hour long, it barely feels like a 10 minute video; and I mean that in the absolute best way! The amount of research you did for this video is truly heartwarming, and I'm extremely happy you've enjoyed our media in this way 31 minutos holds a very special place in our hearts, and I'm very happy that it now holds a very special place in yours aswell
