I seriously miss those old concerts :I They had a full set of unique looking models, who are in the same modeling style, really detailled and they were taking time to adapt/do new outfits for them Now they just port whatever models from Project diva, they have a meh gravity and a meh amount of details, and they have like 4 different model styles... There is something endearing about these earlier concerts over what they are doing today. I think 2013 was the pinnacle for vocaloid concerts. The songs were better, the musical arrangement was better, the models and animation was better than what's being done today. Now they have to perform for bigger audiences on a bigger stage, and I think they lose something with that. This was a well designed and executed concert. My favorites are the 2013 Kansai Mikupa - despite its technical flaws, the 2013 Magical Mirai, and the 2010 Tokyo Giving Day. I have all 3 on DVD. I've seen 2 live concerts - the 2014 Miku Expo in LA and the 2016 Miku Expo LA. 2014 was awesome, similar to this, but the 2016 was kind of a dud. I think they need to take a leap in innovation and try a more life-like Miku. I was at first appalled and against the photo-real Miku premiered in 2014, but if done well and carefully, it could be amazing. Somewhere between these models and photo-real human.

I wholeheartly agree with you on the concert part. In the earlier days the band was a far more integral to the concerts. Nowadays the band is almost non-visible on stage except for the parts where someone is highlighted on purpose because of a solo. The 2013 Kansai Mikupa Bass Guitar problem would have never been that much of a problem if they had placed him a tad little more to the right, so he wouldn't have interfered with the voaloids image. The less you see of the band the more the live effect is destroyed, especially when you watch on DVD later. The show itself, apart from the vocaloids, was far more impressive as well. IMO stage design, lighting, pyrotech and overall choreography was way better in the mikupa concerts. Obviously they can't do that much for the miku expo concerts because those have to be cost effective, but I wish they could do that again for the Magical Mirai Concerts.

@@amybradshaw6693 hi sorry I just felt like pointing out that the band members are actually usually lit up as well not just during introductions to give a specific example I just watched the 2018 magical mirai performance and everyone was pretty much lit up the entire time and actually had cameras on them occasionally edit// just wanted to clarify they don't have a little spot light or anything but they are definitely visible!

@@irljellywyrm I have to admit that my judgement might be a little clouded by the 2 expo concerts I visited in europe. Because if you're standing in the middle very close to the stage your peripheral view is naturally a little limited. The mirai concerts have the problem that the screen is twice or thrice the lengtn of the screen in mikupa concerts and the band is pushed even more to side. Except for 2013 where the band was above the stage. I don't know, it might just be my subjective impression of the concerts, but most of the mikupa contcerts felt more "Live" to me. The best setlist fo me is still mirai 2015 though.

My favorite models in my opinion are the Project DIVA Arcade ones they used the 39's Giving Day concerts. I feel like those stayed true to the characters' original designs (at least for Miku, Rin, Len, and Luka). For some reason, I always felt like there was something off with these models. I think it might be their mouths, but I think it's also their (seemingly dead-looking) eyes.

I wish they continued some of the things they did in the concert, like when the lights switch off and you can still see Miku's silhouette and the lights on her outfit. It really added to the illusion of realness that this concert gave her and I love it.
