Great video as always Dave. I find if the wheels are not to dirty I use multi surface wipes available almost anywhere do an excellent job on wheels and track . I also use a small 9v battery to power the loco wheels while cleaning .

These are FANTASTIC !!!!! I got 2 one for HO and N gauge I had bought a Dead HO engine and it would not run period .I put the black stript on and run it back and forth until it started and continued to move it back and forth until it would run by itself. Of course, I put some alcohol to help

A word of caution regarding track magic, steer well clear of it if you have any inclines on your layout, tried it on mine and trains that ran perfectly up the incline before just couldn't handle it afterwards, the coating it leaves my improve electrical continuity but it absolutely ruins traction!

That's because they are clean and add no friction for grip

hi dave i remember when Tri-ang Railways did an electric tooth brush for cleaning wheels which was great,now use track magic to keep the tri-ang locos in top nick, great video

Hi Derrick, the Tidy Track system and Track Magic IPA should have no issues with traction tyres, but I'd steer clear of the Gaugemaster Wheel Cleaners as they may cause damage to the rubber tyres fitted. They're fantastic for all other models, though!

There is a guy in Scotland that makes some very good roller bearing stands very well engineered £40 for four axles. I purchased O & OO seem to work very well. Stand on track to pick up power. Much cheaper than others of the same type.

Hi Dave, Back in January this year I bought one of these and it was absolute crap because the springs underneath the rails were too strong and not allowing the loco to drop down low enough for the pad to clean the wheels. I couldn't even get a Wrenn loco to drop down low enough that alone a P class that you have demonstrated it on. Have these been modified by the manufacturer to solve the problem or is it just that you have been lucky in that the one you are using is working. If I now buy another of these, is it going to work?

@@HattonsModelRailways Thanks for replying, however I'm not prepared to be fobbed off with this. I was going to modify the ones I had but didn't do it in the end. I returned them. I am waiting for the Brass brush type.

@@SammoKarm apologies, I didn't intend for you to feel 'fobbed off' - I advised getting in touch with Woodland Scenics as I wasn't sure where you'd purchased the rolling road. I believe Gaugemaster are still awaiting their delivery of fresh Brass wheel cleaners - if we get any up to date release info I'll get it added to our description.

@@HattonsModelRailways I wasn't meaning that you, or Hattons from where I purchased these from, had fobbed me off, I was referring to the manufacturers. It seems strange that I had 2 of these and both were crap yet the one you are using is excellent. If I could get one as good as yours then I would have been over the moon. I just get the impression that the manufacturers are giving you a good one to demonstrate with, but supplying the customers with crap. Unless of course as I asked, Have they been modified since Feb this year?

Woodland Scenics Roto Wheel cleaner is a total waste of money,poor quality-stay well clear off,none of my big engines wheels never turned cm,all I could hear was the motor running.
