This is the best documentary series I've ever seen. His time in power was the birth of modern Ireland 🇮🇪 (good and bad).....

If life is a stage then haughey was the lead actor for good bad and scandalous ,he remains the most tragic and dangerous figure in modern Irish life He held control over the leadership of his party with a stubborn determination which caused a Major division of loyalty and eventually lead to the formation of the progressive Democrats, he in many ways was a crucial player in the foundations of modern Ireland and his legacy will be for those who either loath or love him ,that being said politics was a very exiting time and we could never get bored by his era in power

That's all I heard all the way through, it was a tough time for poor dad this poor dad that. Give us a break there's not one of them there that could spell the word poor. Gangsters the lot of them. Their still around this lot, pretending to be one of us. To think about what we had to put up with for 70 year's. A miserable place was Ireland for most. The gap is widening and greed is in the air. At the close of every revolution the people who grab power at the end are the middle class intelligentsia. This is what we got and still have to this day. Greed and a grab for power nullified our Revolution . That died in Killmainham Goal in 1916. Those men would be turning in their graves. They should have put this lot up against the wall ✊☘️

Haughey "We have been living beyond our means". Preaching to the people about tightening the belt. The only time Haughey tightened his belt was when he got up from the toilet.

The Life and Times of The Great Charles (£) Haughey, a man that looked first to the love of his wallet, and then to the love of his people. A real Irish Statesman, indeed.

Troy that's an over simplification of the worst kind , Charlie like most politicians across the known world was invigorated by a love of power Privileges and money ,you can't separate his many contributions to the social upgrades he gave to many desperate people, he made great changes in inheritance act ,and changed outdated laws to protect women and much more

@@TroyaE117 I think that's employed in what I said ,corruption is also a staple diet of those in power, Charlie received major financial payments from a host of business men who said they got nothing in return but that is utter nonsense, his time as taoiseach was very damaging from climate of money scandals that engulfed the body politic ,he will also have to be given credit for his imaginative abilities in early cabinet ministries ,he over turned the old worn out Ireland and placed it on the footing for the economic boom which the Irish people to experience major choices in the boom of the 97 07 years

Thanks to Fianna Fail the German finance minister oversees how much we're allowed to spend . Much like adolescents who are deemed not quite responsible enough to be entrusted to important things . Shameful ...
