Күн бұрын

We spend another day running from dawn til dusk getting things done. We start with hauling some cull cows to sell at auction. Then, we pick up two bulls that we are going to feed out. Next, we make a trip to the grain bins to get a load of corn to feed those animals. Finally, we wrap up with feeding some hay to the cow herd. In between all that, we may have sold a truck and some heifers! Thanks for watching, eat beef, and God bless!

At 18:00 did I see some mules/donkeys out in the pasture when you were feeding hay? Have you always had them? So cool!

Yes, they’ve always been around. They actually came with the farm when we bought it!

@@HurricaneCreekFarmsThat is so cool! Are they donkeys or mules? It was hard to tell. I LOVE them both...if anything ever happened to one of our horses, I'd get a donkey for the survivor's companion. :)

P.S. since I've heard your explanation of cutting or banding, I completely understand and agree!! I mean we circumcise our boys as newborns! Why is it any different? I mean it is, but it really makes sense. I'd imagine lots of people have their "opinions", and I'm also sure you know exactly what the heck you're doing!!

What kind of dog is Archie? He's a cutie!! Lost my chocolate lab this summer and although I'm not ready (enjoying no landmines in my yard for a bit and not having to clean up all the time😂), I will want another in the future. My son wants a bird dog, I want a mama dog! Lol! Our last dog wouldn't even fetch a darn ball! Weirdest lab I've ever had!! 😂 I'm sure my sons wants will outweigh mine, as they always do, but still looking at future options. Who better to ask than a vet, right???😅

He’s an English cocker. I’ve had really good luck with the bird dog breeds. Brittany was a Brittany and easily the best dog I ever had. Sadie is a German wirehaired pointer & she’s been great. Archie just doesn’t want to do as much farm stuff. Sadie is recovering from knee surgery, so you should see more of her in about another 6 weeks.

Would you be willing to discuss costs of your feed out barn? I’m just nosy about cost differences across the country. The company might like a shout-out too if you have any local viewers who might use them. Recently priced a 40’x40’x12’ in NE Texas for $18k out of steel instead of wood posts like your hay barn as a comparison

@HurricaneCreekFarms 9 ай бұрын
Sure, the barn was just under $15k for labor and materials. Of course, I did the site prep (mostly afterwards), and that doesn’t include the concrete and electrical work that we’ve yet to have completed. It is 40’x60’

QUESTION & REQUEST: I am confused.. I think i miss heared or miss understand your farming lingo lol So you bought 2 new boys BUT your planning on taking there balls? 🤔 Or did I not understand what you said? Bc don't you buy boys to breed but if your taking there balls they cant breed! So what would there purpose on the farm be if i heard correctly? And my request.. Could you possibly do a video on the Sales Barn? The process from dropping them off to cash in hand! The only farmers I have seen do Sale Barn videos are ones who are abroad! I have never seen what an American Sales Barn looks and very curious on our process here in the states! I would love it if you could do that!! 😁 But as always thanks again for sharing hun and have a great evening!! 😊😊

Yes, bought two bulls that we will turn into steers. They are destined for someone’s freezer rather than breeding, so we will castrate them. I just drop mine off at the sale barn typically and just wait to get a check in the mail. It’s usually a little hectic getting unloaded on sale day, so we haven’t ever gone to the trouble of asking permission to film and whatnot. Maybe one day!

I’ve thought about it, but I don’t think I could train one successfully. Buying a trained one is an option, but makes me a little nervous. Good ones are worth their weight in gold. Anything else is probably just going to make the job harder. If we had some local trainers that I trusted, I’d consider it.

Is there an age limit you won't steer a bull, or would you just sell it to the barn as a bull?
@sweetteil1081
@sweetteil1081 9 ай бұрын
If you catch them at the right age you shouldn’t band them. That’s more pain for the calf.
