Gotta love them toys, especially in good weather when you have to work. Playing on the toys is more better in bad weather. Thanks for sharing, would like to have the same setup for myself. Thanks for sharing.

This is a neat setup for a single or maximum two workers. I hauled firewood with my grandfather and it got filled with wood quite quickly compared to working alone. Not the fastest way of doing things but surely gets the job done. The dumping feature is a must.

I love these kind of videos. As I did not had anyone who could teach me how mechanical and machines works, so it is quite wonderful to just watch someone doing it with this kind of detail. You can't imagine how fantastic and inspiring this is. Thank you.

Yes, must prepare early for winter when the firewood can be transported dry since the rain season will always arrive without notice.

When winter comes in November or oft times late October and sticks around until late April or into May you need to be prepared. In those six to seven months the snow is the least of your worries, with the cold topping the list. Where I live we range from -40C all the way up to +40C and the Northwind is expert in locating any missing chinking. Mike

I'm from the south. I was living in Latvia for a while and I was completly amazed looking the termendous effort they have to do for the winter. They have to spend a lot of money in things we have never got worried about.

pole barn build soon as you have the bandsaw now? idk if that type of structure is common in estonia but its usually the first thing someone builds once they have a sawmill in North America as all the lumber can be free and it gives you a large area for low cost/time input
@DonnDIY
@DonnDIY 5 жыл бұрын
Pole shed will be probably next building I'm gonna build for the sawmill. Before that I have tons of things to do that take time including the rebuild of the workshop interior so I can work there all year round.

Great work and video. Love the homemade trailer. Any ideas on how to put some brakes on it. I have a short steep section of road coming from the forest and i could sure use some brakes on the trailor even if it were for just this one steep section. Any ideas? Keep up the good work!
@DonnDIY
@DonnDIY 5 жыл бұрын
You can always use wheel hubs with mechanical brakes on them which are actuated by the trailer tow bar when going down hill or when braking. Such tow bars are sold in car trailer manufacturing shops.

Can't you split the wood and directly store it in containers,like cages, to allow it to dry outside ,but allowing you to avoid manual labor to get it in ,like here ? Some 1000 l water tanks cages and some wire fencing material would do it.
@DonnDIY
@DonnDIY 5 жыл бұрын
Yes, that's my exact plan for the future. 😀 I want to make the cages from concrete floor reinforcement sheets ( 150*150 wire mesh) and EURO pallets, the bigger ones (1200*800mm) and a trailer I can use for hauling these pallets inside when the firewood is needed. It would reduce the manual labor to none when I build a firewood processor too. Great minds think alike! 😋 Thanks for watching and commenting. Your comments are always thoughtful and good to read. Cheers!

Really thinking on pulling the trigger on a foreman. About how much weight, including the trailer, are you pulling? Any issues breaking and stopping? Thanks.
@DonnDIY
@DonnDIY 5 жыл бұрын
Around a ton I guess, on average. Foreman weighs 320 kg-s + tools and my weight, wouldn't want to overload the trailer or pull heavy loads on steep hills though, just to be safe. It brakes decently after I installed disc brakes on the front axles. It had useless drum brakes prior to that.

It pulled more voltage than the ATV alternator could supply to the system. I'm using it on the amphibious vehicle build instead since I'm installing a car alternator on it.

Both the house and the garage. A big portion of the meals are made on live fire so that eats up some firewood too.
