good driver, most would have just spun til they were stuck. Smart taking your time and let the weight of the truck and trailer help with the traction...

I agree. If I did it over, I would of just flipped it in 4low. Don't know why I didn't lol. The Trans was a fully built one so it could take this little abuse but I agree
@sstroh08
@sstroh08 9 жыл бұрын
been my experience ford transmissions are pretty tough anyways, my f150 has 230000 miles on it and the original trans is still alive and kicking, I've been very brutal to it worst probably being towing a 13000 lb trailer up a steep hill a few times and it does slip a little but is reliable, regardless looks like you have a hell of a truck there that will probably last forever :]

In these SD's the trans are notoriously junk, everyone I know that has one of these truck has a new trans, including mine a 99K miles. He stated it was a build trans which fixes all the junk parts and makes for a good trans, but not cheap. Nice video and Good driving!

I disagree.....sounds like its in 4 HI, in these technical sections 4 Lo is used to prevent cooking the torque converter. And the dog shouldn't have been in the bed, too dangerous, put it in the cab. Dudes an idiot.

naw. it was chipped..... probably on the 100hp tune in this vid. the trans was built. I agree 4lo would have been better but this was 2 years ago and truck is still doing great. sold it to my best friend and he just towed a triple axle car trailer with 2 full size crawlers on it with a scale weight of 14000 thosand. did great

At my job my boss is a cheap bastard and refuses to get winter tires, we run interstate tires, I’ll tell you what it doesn’t matter how good a driver you are when you have a empty bed and bald interstate tires driving up hills in snow you’re fucked

I had a 2001 Ford F-350 srw. Standard trans. 7.3 motor. Towed a 14 foot dump trailer with 4 foot sides on it. Also had metal cage in truck bed level with cab. The rig held exactly 4 chords of firewood. Had timbrens in the back and a brake controller for trailer. I delivered over 1,000 chords of wood with it. Truck was wiped out 336K miles. Took 7 years for me to kill it. I’d say it towed that trailer for at least 300k of those miles. Trailer was rebuilt 2/3 times. No longer do firewood but miss those days.

@clintymouse 9 жыл бұрын
Riley Kirk All the more reason to use 4lo. Let the gearing do the work instead of the engine. It is a power issue though....too much of it. Because of the higher gear, the engine must work harder, producing more boost in the process, then spinning the tires. If a lower gear is used, you will increase your tractive effort....essentially allowing the gearing to help compensate for the ground conditions.
@sanchezali3536
@sanchezali3536 9 жыл бұрын
thank u sir picard
@rileykirk11
@rileykirk11 9 жыл бұрын
picard that is true but at the same time its easier to spin the tires in 4lo because of the extra torque. Its like driving in the snow, its better to be in a higher gear and lug the engine so its harder for the tires to slip. I may be wrong though, im only 14.
@clintymouse
@clintymouse 9 жыл бұрын
Honestly, It boils down to driver skill. I hear what your saying but if you can be in 4lo and keep vehicle momentum, you'll be better off. One thing you have to remember also, he has a load he is pulling, this also makes a difference. Like I said though, it really comes down to driver skill. Good critical thinking, for a fourteen year old.

@SM120THBORE 8 жыл бұрын
brycea0225 I appreciate your maturity in the argument and I just checked on Google because you've made me second thought myself. But, the wheel is the assembly of the rim and tire and wheel can be considered as the tire sometimes because the definition of wheel is "A wheel is a circular component that is intended to rotate on an axle bearing. The wheel is one of the main components of the wheel and axle which is one of the six simple machines. Wheels, in conjunction with axles, allow heavy objects to be moved easily facilitating movement or transportation while supporting a load, or performing labor in machines".

If is to show how to drive a Ford in a small amount of snow without getting stuck then say that. Most people ain't gunna fuck around they would put in low gear and let the engine do the work. If they started spinning they would put chains on. Only if they have respect for nature.
