Check out some of Travel Channel's paranormal shows like "Paranormal Survivor" and "A Haunting". People tell their real life paranormal experiences. Quite a few are from Canada. "Paranormal Witness" on SYFY is another good one, with some stories coming from our Northern Neighbors.

Parents caring about what is of interest to their child? wow. Anyway. Very cool portrayals- somehow a little off. I really liked it. And Angie is immediately likable. Great performances in a direct story. Well done everyone!

not sure if it's a world wide thing or southern thing...either way I was saying "nope at 0:38. The one thing ya never buy from a deceased person is a mirror. Pretty sure they didn't put a sheet over it when she passed.
@ParkerBrennonFilms
@ParkerBrennonFilms 6 жыл бұрын
That's really interesting. I live in Ohio, and that's not an idea I've heard here. Although, I've seen it in THE SKELETON KEY which takes place in Louisiana.
@mysterylovescompany2657
@mysterylovescompany2657 5 жыл бұрын
Not exclusively a Southern thing. I grew up in Australia, and my Welsh and Croatian grandparents did the same thing. When a death in the home was imminent, they'd either cover all the mirrors or turn them flat to face the wall (or, if that wasn't possible, lay them facedown on the floor), and open the window at the far end of the hall while turning off all the light so that was the only point of illumination. And when the person passed, you'd divide-and-conquer to turn off all the clocks. I'd never thought to question it until I left home, and discovered not everyone did that. My grandmother told me it was so the spirit would make straight for the open window, and not get distracted by its own reflection and trapped in one of the mirrors on its way. I've since heard endless variations of the same concept, from several Eastern European cultures and also places that were previously part of the British Empire (for some reason); and they run the gamut of stopping every clock in the house and starting them again a day later at the same time and covering all mirrors and then uncovering them again at whichever set time had elapsed (and even symbolically shaking out the coverings, or discarding them), to only covering the mirror and stopping the clock in that one room - but that clock kept stopped forever, and the mirror gotten rid of by either passing/selling it on or destroying it outright. And apparently the clock thing is something to do with the idea of time stopping for that person, or something like that, IIRC. Given how many people of various related origins to those groups settled in the South during the States' colonial times, it makes sense that some permutation of those ideas would have taken root there and be prevalent today. :-) But as for the protagonist of this film choosing to buy the mirror, rather than something else, I thought the whole point was that she *wanted* to get haunted. So in her mind, the more "nope" it would have been for anyone else, the more "yasss" it would be for her.

I feel lucky I was able to find Sherry! This was my first short film, and I had to figure out how to find actors on my own, with very little in the budget to pay them. Sherry was such a joy and *really* into the supernatural. She brought her own crystals and looked for ghosts in the B&B when she was off work. Nothing but fond memories of her. Of course, I absolutely agree Mrva is gorgeous. She goes by Lyindaa now, and I hope to cast her again someday 😊
