This church is derelict and fallen down, it is Medieval to 19th Century - 1066 AD to 1900 AD.
As far back as 1702 it is recorded that the church 'is fallen into great decay and that it is in danger of falling to the ground'.
The roof eventually collapsing in 1947 after a low flying military aircraft created a sonic boom overhead.
The church was then abandoned and worshippers from the village migrated to the church at Tivetshall St Margaret.
In 1952 a man had been knocked down and killed by a speeding car on the blind bend around the church and his ghost has haunted the place ever since.
In January 1979 one of the floor tombs in the chancel was disturbed by vandals. Initial reports indicated that human bones and a chalice were found. However, there is some doubt as to whether the chalice originated from the tomb.
…..Apparently, Tivetshall is old English for 'Lapwings Nook'.
