From deceptively serene public ponds shrouded in foliage and hiding dark secrets beneath their glassy waters, to popular and sweeping aquatic expanses where it's rumored countless restless souls resulting from tragic shipwrecks- sometimes centuries past- still wander, adrift. Are you sure you're ready to brave our picks for some of the most terrifyingly haunted lakes in the US?

I used to live on Lake Lanier, northeast of Atlanta. It's a large man-made reservoir. Towns were flooded in the creation of the lake. Buildings are still intact under the water. There are also rumors of catfish the size of Volkswagens. There are stories of children being eaten by the fish. The lake is extremely dangerous and very haunted. People drown there all the time. Check into it. Maybe you could include it in a part 2.

The title is, 'Haunted lakes in the U.S.'...not, all the haunted, or even the most haunted, MANY were missed, but to get all would take a two-hour video...hahahaha. I've seen lake Superior many time's... I lived in Hyde park Chicago Illinois four year's. Anyone else who's lived there knows about brother woo. The winter wind's comein in off the lake and lake effect white outs. It's a very interesting place. The lake in the evening's are unbelievable and the old home's and mansions are phenomenal. But never didn't have my radar detectors go off and raise the hair up on my neck or nothin. When I was staying at the Harrison hotel in Chicago a friend and I were sharing a six pack and we saw two men in the alley, later we herd a gun shot and more yelling thirdly minutes later all cop's and ambulance was down there. I left Illinois three day's later. And never went back again. But that wasn't spooks n goblins that was a violent crime in progress. And also about 40yrs ago thow. Anyway take of urself's. Like I said the last one was the place I won't go, that evil spirit that tricks people can just keep the place. Hahahahaha. DRC. ;)

@@FrightNightScares we somehow locked our keys in the car which was a little weird. The vibe outside while we waited for help was very odd tho. It was dark by than and we both had a very eerie feeling and felt like we were being watched but there was no one around us. Cell service is also terrible there and once you get deep enough into the park, walking out could be miles. A lot of natives will tell you not to go there at night because you never know what or who is in the dark. It’s definitely known in SF to be very creepy at night or on gloomy days. I haven’t went back in years. Lol

I guess Lake Powell doesn't exist? It is in southern Utah and is said that over 100,000 Native Americans have been buried under the bottom of the lake and drowned in the lake. I have been there before and saw a floating shadow above the water that all of a sudden just sank below the water.
