Take a ride on the most intense roller coaster ever built, Cyclone at Crystal Beach amusement park in Ontario. This Harry G. Traver coaster lasted from 1926 to 1946. It didn't have a straight section of track from the first drop to the brakes. A nurse was supposedly stationed at the ride's exit.
Cyclone was part of the Traver Triplets, which also included Cyclone (1927-1934) at Palisades Amusement Park in New Jersey and Lightning (1927-1933) at Revere Beach in Massachusetts.
This is not the NoLimits 1 version. I hand-built this from blueprints and old photos found on the internet. Special thanks to the Prior & Church and Traver group on Facebook for the photo and video references.

No. This was designed at a time that there were no computer 'programs to determine how rough a ride could be. This was an injury machine. They had to have a nurse's station at the end of the ride. It's one of the most violent coasters ever built. This machine sometimes broke the arms of its riders. Some people came to the park simply to watch people ride this coaster. I think I would have given it a go, but I'm stupid that way.

I don't know if one can truly recreate how vicious the actual real-life ride experience was. None-the-less, this is a very well done recreation, to help us get an idea of what it may have been like.

This is a perfect copy of the original cyclone crystal beach my parents used to go there all the time only living about 15 miles away I never had the chance to ride the cyclone myself being not born at that time but I have ridden the Comet Roller Coaster many times they used most of the wood and Trussels from the cyclone to build the comet .. I have read quite a few articles in the mid 2000's talking about the comet and it was still in the top 10 by lake George in New York State.. that is where it was sold to..

The original was also apparently costly & difficult to maintain properly, because of how winter snow accumulation would contribute to structural deterioration of sections.

Really? Gone 1946? I was lucky enough to enjoy the great coaster that replaced the cyclone. The Comet was a great wooden coaster that was a right of passage the summer you were finally old enough to ride. Crystal beach a great oldie type park. Great rides some unique to crystal beach. It was in Canada but everyone from the Buffalo area went there. Great times, great memories

I really like this recreation, just honestly super disappointed that it had the weird camera pov. So many people do the track level on ride povs for the videos of NL2, RCT3, and Planco, but I don't get it. Having the camera up at the actual rider level actually feels like a pov, where you're riding the ride and not sticking your nose against the track ties. It feels honestly kind of unnatural to ride a coaster this way.

ya, it suffered from being too hard on itself and the riders. So sad it's gone though - my dad rode it in Revere MA ! LUCKY BASTARD! lol (addendum,) Wait a minute.. he would have been seven years old or younger... I think he was mistaken, when I asked him if he rode the 'other coaster' at Revere and he said 'yes,' ('what was it like?") '..scary.' He's gone now so I can't interrogate him on it any longer. Could or would they let a seven year old on one of the most intense rides ever built? Though he was no stranger to NY, he may have had a chance at Palisades Park easily into the '40s. hmm in any case, thanks for constructing this sim. it's just beautiful!
