I'm amazed that anybody could actually find plot plans and the actually engineering layout of this monster. Everyone always said the double reversing loop from the outset was the worst but they said the whole thing was like it just got faster and more violent all the way to the end. Truly remarkable. I grew up hearing the stories about this from my parents and grand-parents generation but it was gone lonnnnnng before I was ever around. It was the stuff of legend to anyone who knew anything about Crystal Beach Park and I spent the summers of my teens during the 1970s going to the park almost whenever possible given that I only lived 30 miles away in Niagara Falls. I knew the Comet (that replaced the Cyclone) and the entire park inside out and backwards. Fun times.

Hi, I love your video, it's really realistic. I'm currently researching the flip flap for my studies, and I wanted to ask you where you found all the information (height, length... ) on this coaster? I'm looking for the patent but haven't found it yet.
@RaptorAlex24 күн бұрын
I think I eyeballed most of it, which is the case with a lot of my recreations. I found some really good photos showing the whole thing (not that there was much to see), and the rest I estimated compared with the people standing nearby.

Really? Gone 1946? I was lucky enough to enjoy the great coaster that replaced the cyclone. The Comet was a great wooden coaster that was a right of passage the summer you were finally old enough to ride. Crystal beach a great oldie type park. Great rides some unique to crystal beach. It was in Canada but everyone from the Buffalo area went there. Great times, great memories

This is a fun recreation. I was only nine when the park moved so I don’t remember it that well, but the thing that stood out to me was the log ride, Splinter. If you could re-create that, that would really remind me of my childhood, gum tree and all! 😂

Your recreations are usually spot on, and I hate to criticize you like this. This coaster was absolutely wonderful, but it was barely more than something somebody built in their back yard. The peaks and valleys were nowhere near as sharp as you have portrayed them. There was not a hint of airtime on this ride. It struggled to finish the course.
@RaptorAlex4 ай бұрын
Criticism is totally fine. It helps me get better. I take it you rode this? If so, that's incredible. One thing I try to do with my recreations is build them as they were at their peak. I suspect that if you rode this, it was toward the end of its life, when it was not running well. Though I can only imagine what it was like when it was younger.
@robdcx4 ай бұрын
I took that into mind when riding and before criticizing. The ride was in deplorable shape when I rode it, but even then the shape of the hills is wrong. It wouldn't have produced any kind of airtime even at top condition. Still a very, very charming ride.

@RaptorAlex the steel track pieces are EVERYWHERE back in the woods. The last piece of full track is up near somebodys house on the hill. Footers are still all in tact. I thought it would be awsome to take a piece of the steel polish it and hang it on my wall but it is just massive. You could build a entire coaster with all the steel track back their and its all in great shape.
