The Spanish established their foothold in Cuba to conquer the continent and control the precious metals stolen from the Indigenous Peoples.
The treasure fleets🚢 would gather in the Havana harbor before sailing for Spain🇪🇸. The Cubans rebelled and after 350 years gained their independence and ended slavery in this hemisphere.
