Marion! I LOVED this! Props to you for singing and filming your own havdalah. We have rarely done it ourselves but I actually lured my children to sleep over at their grandparents last weekend by packing our spices and braided candle in their overnight bag, so they had something special to look forward to (the baby is still resistant to sleeping away from her crib here at home). Your comment about celebrating havdallah to mark special milestones was such a nice suggestion, and you’re right. The box subscription seems like a really marvelous supplement to PJ Library’s book mailings. So great!! 💕😘

@@MyJewishMommyLife yes, there are so many funny things kids say who have been to Jewish preschool. Same sorts of things go on in our house. p.s. Shavua Tov is such a relaxing song and you reminded me -- while we rarely perform the havdalah ceremony, I do often sing the girls to sleep with that song as a makeshift lullaby. Love it so much!

When I worked with a Jewish family, I downloaded a Jewish calendar add on on my iPad calendar. All the sudden I had alerts for Havdalah on my calendar every week so I had to ask the mom what that was because we’d never done it (Iworked weekends). In part of her explanation, she told em about celebrating it at her Bubbie’s house as a kid. Bubbie told her to hold the candle as high as she wanted her husband to be tall and she wanted a tall husband so she would stand on a chair then hold it up. Her husband is 6’4” 😂

Marion we use the same blue book for our Havdalah prayers! It’s one of my favorite time of the week. It’s short and yet so fulfilling. At this point Benny loves the Havdalah candle ( ours is smaller). Separation it’s definitely important in our lives, it helps me get the mindset that a new week have started. We also sing Eliyahu Hanavi at the end. Thank you for sharing your own Havdalah ceremony.

Now i wish i was raised Jewish. I might have some Jewish blood, and at least by my family name, i should be one... but I was raised an Orthodox Christian. then i got absorbed into the occult because i had no good spiritual guidance :( now, i'm trying to find my path back to G-d, and it's difficult. I feel I can't really let Jesus out of my life, but I think Judaism is the right/correct religion/lifestyle. both for me and everyone else in the world. whoever reads this,please pray that i find the path back to G-d and to serving him. May god have mercy on us all.

I hadn’t heard of this! I am so interested in the shalom at home box as we teach our kids more about this important part of their faith. What are your thoughts on Christians incorporating more Jewish traditions as part of their faith?
@MyJewishMommyLife6 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much!! I don't know really it doesn't bother me personally I think everyone should live and try things however they see fit. I think every religion incorporates aspects of other religions in many ways anyways.
@brielleimana14084 жыл бұрын
Adding some thoughts I think it’s ok to incorporate jewish traditions into your faith as long as you research properly and treat the traditions with respect. I bet you will but I’ve seen some Christian do jewish traditions improperly, not calling things by their proper names, etc. so as long as you treat them with respect you should be ok
