Those grinch videos were absolutely traumatizing. Children’s brains cannot distinguish fantasy from reality, and are wired to trust their parents implicitly. So from the kids perspective, someone broke into their house and stole their stuff right in front of them and their parents didn’t stop it. Also, once the ruse is revealed, now their parents have lied to them and find their distress hilarious, and it’s immortalized on the internet forever. These kids will never really trust their parents again.

That little girl is going to grow up remembering vividly the day her presents were thrown into the fireplace, and it will have completely slipped the father's mind. They might share a laugh about it at that time, but the pain and trauma is real and will stick with the kid.

1. The Grinch one. I feel like it's a play in two acts. One day you have the Grinch steal the gifts, then later he comes back and returns them. 2. Burning the fake gifts is awful. I get that as far as Santa is concerned it's a reward for good kids, but as parents Christmas gifts should be a token of love, not a reward that should simply be revoked. There may be extreme exceptions, like if Junior is being a brat on Fortnite (or is disobedient because the game is more important), maybe you decide he should get a gift other than a new XBox or something. But yeah, I dont see this practice doing anything but sowing seeds of resentment.

i honestly envy people who say they were severely defiant as kids, and rejected punishments etc. i literally wasn't able to do that until i was about 15 or 16, and my father really had to work to kick my shit in when i didn't listen. and definitely not a 'woe is me oh the abuse' sentiment, i still wasn't the greatest kid or anything, but i got it pretty bad when i'd go so not-far as to forget to take the trash out for instance, or 'didn't give it my all at football practice' (actually openly putting great effort into anything i did was weirdly embarrassing anathema to me, for whatever reason). ig my point is i was deathly terrified for too many years, and i wish i would have started making him 'earn' the shit kickings a lot sooner in life.

That guy talking about the trees in NY is right. I live in Jersey, and $100 for a tree is considered overpriced. Usually you can get a nice tree for $50, but the prices do go up as Christmas gets closer.
@BertzTriscut
@BertzTriscut 8 ай бұрын
Christ. Those tree prices are way too steep. I live in the LA area, so most of our trees are imported from Oregon, but even then, the most expensive 8-10 foot ones are like $150. Trees the same size should not be double or triple the price in NYC because you can find those same trees just a few miles out. Man even said that all he had to do to get $30 trees was drive across the river into Jersey. Artificial as shit.

I never understood people's obsession with having to get a real tree, In my family we've been using the same fake tree as long as I can remember and it looks great. Not to mention all the pine needles you'd have to clean up with a real tree.

Because a real tree smells incredible, fake trees are cheesy, & it's once a year. The needles are a pain, but fake tree people exaggerate it & it's worth it no matter how late into the summer they keep showing up.

When you get a real tree, you go out, have to pick it and cut it with the family. It's never perfect looking, it's different every time. It has character since there's no perfect tree. And they have a beautiful smell. The only time you have to worry about the pine needles is when you're moving it in, or moving it out. And that's just 2 minutes with a broom or vacuum to clean it up.

My family has been getting fresh trees for 32 years now, and here's some advice I can give: 1. Choose a Noble Fir. They smell the best and shed the least. 2. When you set it up, get a tree stand that can hold water. 3. In the first 3 days, the tree will drink about 5 gallons of water. Then it will be a gallon every 3 days. 4. For that water, for the first 5 gallons you want to add 1 teaspoon of bleach and 3 tablespoons of sugar. 5. From that point on, in a one gallon jug, use only 1 teaspoon of sugar per gallon, and your tree should survive up to 6 months. 6. Make sure it gets partial sunlight so natural photosynthesis may occur and the tree survives. Hope it helps; Merry Christmas! Happy Boxing Day!
