As far as living forever, AI/uploading consciousness-if that’s even possible) may not be the only solution. The reason we age and die comes down to having a finite number of telomeres. (“Bumpers” on our DNA which carry the necessary information for cell division without actually damaging the source DNA) Recent discoveries have yielded methods to not only halt telomere degradation, but potentially grow additional telomeres, and/or make them replicate indefinitely.
