Re Afshin's remark about closing libraries: where I live, within the NYC tri-state area, the libraries of the well-to-do towns all around me do a fine job of censoring themselves, so closing them will probably never be necessary. A perusal of their spot-lighted books or their bookshelves would not give any indication of the current problems in the world, or even hint at the possibility of the reality of US imperialism. Any fascist regime would be better served to keep these libraries open, as they lull readers into a comfortably numb state of ignorance and acceptance of the official narrative.

As George correctly pointed out, "They're afraid for their careers; that their careers would be ruined." An illustration of this is the case of the brilliant visual artist Julian Schnabel, painter and filmmaker. Perhaps you've seen his beautiful film, "The Diving Bell and the Butterfly". After that film, in 2010 he make another film named "Miral" about Palestine, based on an autobiographical novel by Rula Jabreal. The film "Miral" was even shown to the UN General Assembly. Schnabel's career was nearly destroyed after the 'powers that be' B.D.S.'d him. The same goes for those who produced the film. Partly, they wanted to ruin him; partly, they wanted to send a message to any other artist considering producing the same type of work. He had to make a documentary about himself a few years ago, almost apologizing for his film, so he could resuscitate his career and pay for his large family. It is a shame what they did to him, just for having his own opinion and having a conscience.

I think the Kashmir situation is a bit different to Palestine. India is a Secular state with about 300 million Muslims , only a few million of these in Kashmmir. It would be a ridiculous idea to carve out bits and pieces of the country wherever concentrations of Muslims were found. Asokan India at the time of the Buddha was a much larger place and remained so until Musl8m Invaders arrived. If we were to form states on the basis of Religious affiliation of the population of particular areas, one could argue that chunks of Northern England, could be declared separatist states on the basis that the majority of people there were Muslim.
