I fell into this recently. I sinned and the confessed it, and planned it all. It felt horrible. I need your prayers. I think next time I presume I won’t eat for the rest of the day, I have to start taking action against this sin

We puny humas are very compartmentalized and see the True Almighty God as either/or when He is both/and. Seeing God as either/or tries to build a false God on our image and likeness. Seeing God as both/and moves us to truly become the image and likeness of God that we were created to be. God's Mercy and Justice are one, his Love and Wrath are one, his tenderness and bluntness/roughness are one. God is One and that empowers us to fight sin and enter Heaven. A fractured, self-kissing, false image of God leads to Hell.

A very pertinent message, Father, Thank You. As a convert from a rather fundamentalist, Bibles open in one's lap for the duration of the service, notebooks, pens & highlighters at the ready, it is a bit frustrating when in Catholic Readings and Homilies, frequently a Bible Book will be mentioned but not the chapter/verse, when one wishes to later review and better assimilate the presented messages. And, of course, as soon as I typed this, one exact verse was given. I realize that there are set guidelines for the structure of the flow of the Mass, but, {IMO} having the references to review and take into our Souls at a deeper level in further meditation would be very nice. Blessed Be, To You And All The Clergy Who Serve Us So Well ~~

The daily readings ,including Sundays, are listed by the USCCB. Also, in the Sunday missal. Maybe the church bulletin. Blessings

We are supposed to read them before mass. I agree we should be taking notes!

They are rarely cited in homilies, you need to ask the priest and they usually can tell you at least which book and approximately where (range of chapters) in my experience. 😊

We read the same verses each mass every year. I'm not sure who these priests are but we use the 1962 missal so everyone can read the readings in their native language, depending on the missal get some notes, and see how the prayers and sermons interact with The Word and the Holy Mass. Nothing in Catholcism is secret, but surprisingly many Catholics (especially myself) don't know a fraction of what we have available so it may as well be secret.
