It would be good to hear the Pentax response. I find this subject confusing (understatement) so thank you for looking into it.

Dive ,Baby, Dive. You hit it perfectly. I knew this Camera was high tech and advanced. Just because they packed so many adjustments in it. And then Firmwared it to keep up with all setting variances. It's like they said: "Let's put everything we can think of in this Camera. And along with our users, we'll figure how wonderfully it all works." Thank you much, Bud. Craig.

I love rabbit holes. My entire life is a rabbit hole. 🤠 Thanks for your efforts! In general, Pentax documentation is lacking in comparison to other brands.

Nice video, thanks. I do not use subject recognition, not really needed with my genres, but yeah, if auto settings are necessary to get the best out of it it should be clearly mentioned in manual. I hope Pentax will answer you.

Kobie your going full send mode with the deep diving mate haha! Be carful falling down those rabbit holes, sometimes it can take a long time to get back out. On a serious note, it's all very interesting & intriguing, it makes you wonder how far they have thought ahead with updates in mind?

😂😂🤣🤣 full send. Love it! Well, according to my friend it appears that at least some of the "containers" are most likely place holders for items to be added to them later. So the "string" would be the description of what should be recognized for the subject recognition, then the actual items would then be placed into the containers for the camera to recognize/analyze when you go to shoot.

So my question is this, If you really had to get a high rate of tack sharp photos of a moving object what would your settings be with the K3 iii?
@KobieMC2 жыл бұрын
Good question. Prior to FW 1.41, it was Continuous shooting med, First frame action for AF.C = Focus priority, Action in AF.C = release priority, AF.C mode set to SEL-EX L or Med depending on what I was shooting, AF type set to 1. Now, I'll most likely use Zone AF with Subject recognition using custom image auto instead but the other settings I used before will remain (first frame action, continuous M etc).
@bengtsandberg97592 жыл бұрын
I have been using the camera in these modes = correct, lot of discussions with Antonio Pisani at Ricoh. Tracking does not work anyway. Algorithm is totally wrong, the AF starts tracking from the closest point, not from the center where you aim so the tracking is off already from the start and never gets back. Subject recognition and eye tracking is only on paper not in reality. K3lll is still a AF-S Spot Focus camera which is a pity and of no real use when K1-ll is a much better camera all over. Was shooting hockey yesterday with Sony A7IV and Tamron 35-150 f2-2.8 and with tracking Mode locked, at one player the AF just moves along even if another player crosses. Just sticks to the locked player over the Ice and camera can just be still. This is tracking and subject recognition. Now I use A7IV and K1-ll, great combination, A7IV for sport and K1-ll for max IQ. Today was out for birds with A7IV Tamron 150-500 and K1-ll with 150-450mm and both are Great in different ways, K1-ll is still the IQ King and will never leave my gear, Sony, Canon, Nikon, Olympus, had them all (still have Sony) comes and goes, Pentax says forever it makes a bond, the other are just cameras. But to be honest and not stubborn, mirrorless has a place in the room where DSLR can't keep up, AF, tracking, video, sports and Wildlife. If you are not in to that stay with Pentax, nothing is better. Sweden is like Canada but spring is coming and days are longer. Best regards Bengt

Mine does the same thing. Moving subjects from right to left the camera focuses on the closest thing which is the ground on the lower left and uses the lowest focal points on the bottom left. If it can't acquire a focal point or the subject is inbetween in the huge gaps in the focal points it doesn't even select a focus point but fires off a shot any way. Totally useless auto focus settings in the camera that don't work. Why? They could have added a bake a pizza mode on the K-3iii and it would work just as well as the af.c auto.
@davidstorm40152 жыл бұрын
Did you have coninuous AF on when making this video? The lens was constantly focused on the plane where your dog's eyes were at the beginning of the video, resulting in you being out of focus for the entirety, except right at the end. Or did you manually focus and just leave it set where it was?
@KobieMC2 жыл бұрын
I had AF.C active with Live View "Zone". I've since tested with full auto and it does a much better job.

Maybe i'm using this camera wrong, not getting the results that i wanted maybe I expected too much from this camera due to the reviews that I've read and good comments from forums. Still have that regret not getting the K1 Mark II, wasn't able to find the K1 in Hongkong and got the K3 mark III instead.

What subjects do you shoot and what are you not happy with specifically with the results you're getting?

I can’t make really sharp photos with the K3 III when I never had a problem with the K5 II. In addition, the documentation is poor because it lacks precision. I plan to resell it. I am very disappointed, especially when you consider the price of this camera. First, I’ll try to fix it. I hope this comment does not have too many mistakes because I used an automatic translator

Unfocused K3 iii video 😂😂😂 On a serious note, I have the first generation K3, seriously thinking getting the new 16-50 PLM or going full frame Z6 instead!!! Because in my opinion the K3 iii is too expensive for what you get in today’s market. Which is a shame.
@KobieMC2 жыл бұрын
You win some, you lose some lol. The 16-50 PLM is a fantastic lens. Heavy but balances well, sharp, good focal range, silent fast focus. It's just really really great.

As I was starting to record, my dog hopped up which threw the focus off. It should have refocused though since it was in AF.C.
