Guys what a great outcome and hats off to TOYOTA. We have a 200 with rear diff done by DMW that strengthens housing to increase load to 3t but internals remain as per OEM as they are usually rock solid! Keep on cruisin’!

Cheers. Ours is still a factory diff centre as well. It's only the housing that's aftermarket. Even the factory setup needs the diff lock engaged before removing the axles 👍

The whole of WA is stunningly beautiful. Kimberley’s, Pilbara , Gascoyne and Midwest and our Great southern. Please be aware that picking wild flowers in WA is illegal. We are one of the worlds few biodiversity hotspots and for all our sakes we need to keep it this way. You guys are in the amazing position of being able to be ambassadors for this! While it may only be one bunch of flowers, as you have previously mentioned in episodes with the amount of people in WA this adds up💐

Howdy, I've been following your adventures for a few years now. Glad to hear you got the diff all sorted. I'm really interested to see what you get next, your current van looks like a great layout, I am "researching" family caravans atm, and its good to see level headed families putting these beastly caravans through their paces. @TheLifestylePioneers Really interested to hear your thoughts and feedback on the new hybrid family layout, compared to your previous full van, including weights, towing, living space, solar etc. I really like the composite construction, we are aiming for a composite family van around the 19', similar style layout as your previous Titanium van. I hadn't considered a hybrid only because I am 6'6" tall, so bed length is an issue.. looking forward to you guys putting the hybrid to the test, happy travels, cheers Shayne 🌄

Same thing happened to us about 6 years ago. Toyota replaced the diff centre on ours too. How is the housing? Our housing was damaged from it as we were on heavily corrugated roads, so the dog ring (collar) was bouncing a lot inside the housing. Its in the Toyota procedure to engage the locker when removing the axels, and there should be a sticker there as part of the JMACX kit. However Toyota did it a second time to us but I checked straight away and had them fix it before any damage occurred. Now days, I just do my own bearings as I got sick of mechanics not engaging the locker to remove the axels. I just wanted to let you know this because it will happen again if you are not onto them about it. Just jack the rear of your car up after a bearing service, with wheels off the ground, and physically check the locker is engaged, to ensure that collar is still in place. Hope this helps. Cheers. Adam
@TheLifestylePioneers

Thanks, Adam. We'll definitely be vigilant about it now! The housing has a small impact dent and some marks but nothing major.

Had the exact same challenge with my 79 Jamcx rear diff. Toyota in Rocky didn’t engage the locker when they did the rear wheel bearings. Unlike you, I was told to bugger off because of the Jmacx rear housing.

Very interesting. I watched another KZbinr video only last week where they had diff probs in their Cruiser; and they said they’d just had it serviced with new wheel bearings at a Toyota dealer in NT and they failed to engage diff lock. It seems like a training deficiency problem currently at Toyota service centres.

Be mindful of articulation and the water tank rubbing on your drive shaft. I’ve got the Brown Davis reserve tank in my 79, and it rubber a groove around 2mm around the drive shaft at the rear. Took the tank out and had the 90 deg edge bevelled 30mm up and under to stop it happening. Prior to that I had some rocks find there way up there and got caught and wouldn’t fall through. Also wore a groove. I lost around 2L of diesel capacity through the mod. Keep an ear out for the noise.

Can't keep up with why all the high profile youtubers keep changing their 'ultimate' caravan evey 1 or 2 years. Good on you if you can afford it but the reality is most of us can maybe only affford 1 or 2 new vans in our lifetime. It would be good if it you and other content creators, could explain the real reasons you change vans so often. Is it because you want too or are brand ambassadors that you have too.

Unfortunately I can’t give you the Y.T. Site currently, they are experienced 4x4 over landers from W.A. , they were recently out near the Birdsville track in the middle of nowhere and one of the vehicles broke an axel and he was stuck big time, their is a tow truck company that will come to your rescue in a radius of many kilometres, they charge a fee of $500 as an excess amount akin to an insurance company to take the vehicle back to their HQ. You may never require it, but the guy stranded sure did, his mates all pitched in to get the car back to W.A. It cost more than $500 by the time they salvaged it.
