I got a warning and threatened with a ban from my local GW store for bringing in 3D printed terrain and I tried to argue with the manager that it wasn't against the rules of the store or for casual games. They told me that it didn't matter it was unofficial/approved terrain. So I fear taking 3D printed stuff to GW stores.

So I’ve been 3D printing since 2017: My printers have been: •CREALITY CR-10 (FDM) •CREALITY ENDER 3 PRO (FDM) •CREALITY HALOT ONE (resin) •CREALITY ENDER 3 S1 PLUS (FDM) •CREALITY K1 MAX (FDM) To conclude, printers have evolved leaps and bounds since I first started printing in 2017. I recently looked into printing warhammer 40K Necron miniatures and terrain with my printers. I printed and painted a Canoptek Reanimator on my CORE XY (super fast) K1 MAX FDM printer and realised that Warhammer fine detail minis aren’t good to print on FDM printers however the vehicles like the night scythe and dooms scythes would be and I’ve seen a guy print one. If you use a smaller nozzle then you’ll probably be able to print finer detail minis however prints will take far longer. Resin: •perfect for printing minis •extremely high fine detail •toxic fumes when resin is washed in isopropyl alcohol •Less toxic when water washable resin is used and washed in water in a dedicated wash station To conclude, beginners can now pick up 90-95% pre assembled printers, learn how to setup their printers, learn how to use their slicing software, find their files to print, download them, import them to the slicer, slice the files, export them to the printer memory stick or SD card and hot print. Newer printers can even cancel individual parts that may be unwanted or failed during the print and even better yet, you can control some printers from your phone. For example I can be away from my house and watch my printers print progress from my phone and if it fails then I can cancel it before my nozzle gets clogged or damaged. I highly recommend the Ender 3 V3 or K2 MAX as there is a massive community for Ender printers. The Ender 3 V3 offers Core XY (600mm/s movement) and the K2 MAX offers multicoloured printing which is insane, core XY 600mm/s, an AI LiDAR that will scan the bed and make sure printing is as easy as possible and a camera to watch your prints as mentioned earlier.

Yeah the biggest issue that 3d printers run into, especially things like the ender platforms, is that they require a fair amount of fiddling that is distinctly not quite compatible with plug-in-and-print. They're great for prototyping things and terrain but for mini's... whoooooboy unless you want to do glass transition point maths it's absolutely going to turn out "different" than you probably wanted it.

Big fan of my Uniformation GKTwo. However, aside from my Lokhusts I haven't printed many Necrons with it. It's mostly been for my CSM and Orks. Not to mention my brother making me print out a whole Nurgle army

Buy a bambu a1 and you wont need another FDM till you get a p1p or x1c. Its not a matter lf "you are smart enough to figure it out" its a matter of "you wont have to"
