Have We Just Eaten CANDLES? Taste Test Gone WRONG

So we need your help to tell us if we have just eaten candles whilst trying to do a taste test. Bought from a market stall in Paphos, Cyprus we did think they resembled candles but surely they're a food. The fact we aren't sure makes it a food we don't like or we have actually just been chewing on 4 candles.

They look like siousiokkos sweets black one might be carob ,the red one pomegranate the brown colour one is probably white grape …the are almond nuts with a string running through them dipped in thickened flour and grape juice over and over to make a long lumpy sausage then its cut to sell .its a delicacy,a traditional Cypriot dish .

Hi they thread the nuts on the string and then dip up and down in the syrup until it reaches the required thickness, then it’s hung up to set fully

The way they make these is they use the string to hang up and pour the fruity outer over the nuts whilst hanging up❤

Looks like the sugar sweet had back in spain in the 80's similar to the liquorice alsorts with liquorice in the middle and sugar on the outside.

They may look like candles because of the way they are made. The nuts must be dipped in the outer coating just like the way you make a candle the string in the middle it to hold the nuts together when they make them.

Loved it.👍. Dan get some zivania it’s our local hooch made with grapes it’s cheap and will knock your socks off have a beer ready for after a shot.
