I think because of those many years Ren spent in his bedroom struggling with his illness, he became a master at creating music alone, whether with instruments or electronically. I think that isolation is also part of the reason for all of the pop culture reference. During that period he was intaking a lot of media along with writing, so some of what he was watching made it into his music. Great Reaction! This song has a very different feel, but it's Ren... at this point it's pretty much the one constant in Ren's music.

Yes, it’s Ren beatboxing the beats along with the beats. He’s been doing that, mixing and producing since he was a teenager. He was born to be Renmakesmusic. This was when he was too ill to go out busking so the music came to him. Check out his old channel RENs Room. And I’ve been trying to find out more on Orlean

So this is 7 years old, look how skinny he is. This was before he finally got diagnosed properly and was back and forth between the bedridden times and some better days. I understand many foods made him physically sick, so his diet was limited and he was undernourished. Which was just more crap on top of the shit.
