I've been listening to knox for roughly a year and a half both on his breakdowns 1st then realised I was an idiot for not even checking out him as an artist. That was my flaw because you easily get caught up in how he deconstructed an artist you dismiss his own art. I did that until killshot came out. Ever since I've purchased everything. The man is a decent human, a hard working family man and a lyricist (I use lyricist as a very simple comparison)

I have chronic Lyme. That unleashed these demons in my body, and I had to stop law school, I had to ask the judge to turn down the ac during my disability hearing. I can absolutely relate to this song. I have Fibromyalgia and Rheumatoid Arthritis along with a boring list of personal hell. I missed so much of my kids growing up. At 48 now, I cling to music as my therapy because nothing else helps, or my body rejects it. Imagine being allergic to 52 different meds? I pray they find a cure. Thank you, @knox, for introducing me to Rens music. On my darkest days and nights, his music is like a lighthouse guiding me through.

Hey Jodi. Thanks for sharing that post and your story. I know it will help others, just by seeing it. I hope that for you, Ren and all others impacted my Lymes, that a cure is found soon. Rens music helps me too but from a severe depression/mental health perspective but physical pain, I don't know if I personally would be as strong and brave as Lyme suffers seem to be. I think Rens music and his outlook on life is so inspirational. Need more like him and less of the ego we see in the majority of industry controlled music, especially in rap and hip hop. Thanks again. I hope you are having a good day, what every that may look and feel like for you.

"Hope is a dangerous thing. Hope can drive a man insane." As someone who also struggles with unidentified neurological conditions resulting in severe chronic pain, as well as several other conditions that frequently accompany (such as chronic fatigue), I have had to stop allowing myself to believe in hope. If an angel comes to help me like the stem cell doctor did for Ren, fantastic, but after many, many years of having my hopes raise only to be shattered I cannot continue allowing myself to do that. Like Ren, I have gone insane and lost contact with reality for periods of time. Each time is harder and lasts longer than the last. I'm 29 and feel 92 most days. I both love and hate Ren. It's amazing to hear someone speak so articulately about so many things I feel and have felt. I love that he found relief from many of his symptoms allowing him to be a global voice for so many. But I also feel a twinge of jealousy that I can't also find relief. But that's not why I find myself hating Ren at times. I discovered Ren at a point in my life where I had given up and was intending to take my life. On the night I had decided to end my suffering I heard How To Be Me and saw the effects taking one's own life has on others and I realized I couldn't force my pain and suffering onto everyone else around me, even if I can see the pain in their lives having to watch me suffer. The pain of losing a loved one in that way is a pain that never goes away. So during particularly bad days, when all I want is to taste the sweet release death will ultimately bring, Ren reminds me I cannot bring it upon myself. Those are the reasons I both love and hate Ren.

Big up to you Knox for another quality bars breakdown! There's another internal you may not have caught with the disability benefit bar? "24 and living on disability benefit, but what's the benefit of disability? It's irrelevant." You've got the straight meaning of the bar, like disability isn't a benefit. You've also got the colloquial term "dis" as in slang for "this", so the bar also reads- "24 and living on disability benefit, but what's the benefit of dis(this) ability? It's irrelevant." So you've got Ren saying "What's the benefit of this ability, it's irrelevant.?" It's saying "what's the point of having this skill when I can't use it, because I'm so sick? It's irrelevant." So you've definitely got a triple in just that one internal rhyme scheme alone. Just as some perspective, there is more funding to study male pattern baldness than there is for Lymes disease, ME and fibromyalgia COMBINED. We as a society place more value on vanity, than we do in helping millions of people who are in genuine pain and suffering terribly. That, is a very sad situation to be in as a collectiveness.

I’m 35 and was diagnosed with endometriosis and adenomyosis at 24. Four surgeries later, almost a month in the hospital, countless pills , hormones, judgmental and cold doctors and zero kids later and I’m finally throwing in the towel. There is no cure for these conditions and I’ve given up my dreams of carrying a child and am prepping for a hysterectomy. I’ve spent almost two decades in constant and debilitating pain and have lost all my relationships and accomplishments I built and was so proud of. I found Knox as a Swiftie and since watching, have added at least 50 songs to my Therapy playlist and this amazing song as been added - I’m in tears. I am so grateful for being introduced to music that I would have probably never been exposed to, all while this dude is dealing with his own life struggles, raising a family and dropping new music. You truly are the best, I’m so happy you exist and thank you for what you do 🙏🫶🏼

As someone who also suffers from fibromyalgia and other Invisible Illnesses I feel for you. After 3-4 years and countless different doctors and tests, when I was 14 they finally just labeled me as having "Some Unknown Neurological Condition Resulting in Episodes of Extreme pain and Muscle Spasms". Apparently in their eyes that justified them throwing narcotics at a teenager and telling the family to stop bothering them. (And yes, this was at the height of doctors over prescribing opioids). About 10 years later they decided to add Fibromyalgia to my diagnosis. I wish I had a dollar for every Doctor who told me I was "Faking it" or, "It's just in your head". I feel like I could make a sizable impact on the funding needed to research these types of illness!

With great power comes great responsibility, and Ren is truly a hero! He is using his growing powers and platform for so much more than simply creating brilliant music. Ren has said that he always had this feeling that he was meant to change the world for the better. So much that he defiantly yelled a challenge to evil into an empty room. And then he got sick… Ren has now shared the full story of his health journey in 8 video chapters leading up to the release of this song and what a journey it has been. If anyone hasn’t already watched them, I highly recommend you do. With all the chapters he is showing immense strength in sharing his story that is so hard to tell, being vulnerable and telling it because he hopes it will help others and raise awareness. And here he is with another rendition of that story, now told through music with a fire beat and delivering a message of hope. A beautiful hero that the world needs ❤️🐰🕳️ Hope you’re okay, Knox. Between Best of Myself and you not dropping a Ren reaction a few minutes after release, you’ve had me worrying. Hopefully things are getting better for you and your family ❤

I haven't heard anyone catch that he's 23 in his bed *tomb* not room. He's referred to his bed as a grave before and this was a devastating hit I think some people also don't get why his self harm was so relatable. I have a chronic pain disorder and was on meds for a time that caused intense neuropathy, pins and needles for 8 hours sometimes. The painful kind like when you fall asleep on your arm wrong and the pain wakes you up when the blood flow returns. I've been blessed by never having self harm thoughts or suicidal ideation. One day, I found myself punching my foot repeatedly because it stopped the pins and needles when I was hit. I went off those meds that next month. The Lord I forgive you lines are really powerful when you consider the actual function of forgiveness. It isn't to absolve another's soul, its a form of healing for the one who forgives. Forgiving God is about letting go of the blame. For a religious/spiritual person, the idea of forgiving your higher power is heart wrenching and fulfilling. It's the healing of a spiritual wound, of religious trauma.
@philliphall98178 ай бұрын
Phil's wife Susan here. Hearing the "Lord I forgive you" lines helped me realsie that is something I still need to do. I do a lot of online activism for ME/CFS. Sadly, there are too many young people in a bed tomb. They need our help. Society doesn't even realise they are there. The medical profession have often been trained to ignore people with these illnesses. When you are bedridden your unable to get yourself to doctors or a hospital.

An absolute masterpiece. I have so many pages of poetry of my suffering through my journey of 10 years undiagnosed lyme and another three before I healed. I'm not talented, I could never put everything in the right words. To see Ren articulate things I've felt so deeply in my heart, to have a story that so similarly parallels my own troubles expressed in this art so brilliantly is a gift. I appreciate it deeply. I found healing. I'm eternally greatful to God for all the lessons I learned and the resilience I now have through my suffering. Any where Lyme or autoimmunity are mentioned I like to share I was bedridden and now I have my life back thanks to the New York Center for Innovative Medicine in New York by Dr. Thomas Schulz. I will always share that in case someone else can find their remedy there as well. God Bless. Pushing through was worth it.

“Table tennis game that has no end”, oh how I relate to this line. I have a chronic therapy resistant depression, spent several months in a mental hospital, but it brought nothing in the long term, even though I tried many medications and even last resort methods like ketamine and ECT. I am trying unsuccessfully to find an ambulatory psychotherapist, it’s very hard where I live, even the crisis services couldn’t help me find one. “Sorry, we have no places available, write again in several months”, “sorry, your symptoms are too severe for our staff, we can’t help you” and so on. My psychiatrist also can’t do anything, because I have already tried literally every available antidepressant with zero results, even with lithium. Back to the topic of the song, Lyme’s disease, tick encephalitis, malaria and so on are just so f*cking terrifying. One random bite from a tiny creature is enough to ruin lives.

Like so many others, Ren's music is therapy for me. I also went #missing from life around the same age. I made it to 28, before my various undiagnosed illnesses took my ability to live life freely. Now, at 44 I have received many diagnoses, but most of them receive less funding than ED, so I still bounce from doctor to doctor with only the option to "manage" my MS, ME, Fibromyalgia and Migraines. Our medical system isn't interested in curing sick people, there is more profits in keeping us sick. Lastly, disability benefits do pay for my $35,000 monthly prescription drugs, but my best hope us being dependent on these medications forever. #weneedmorecures
