My first set of keycaps was a GMK set. I had a hard time justifying the price even when I got them, but because it was what everyone recommended I sucked it up and got the redsun samurais. Then I bought a cheap PBT set from amazon and after trying them thought "well obviously the GMKs will be better than $30 amazon caps" then I tried a few other more premium sets like some drop+matt3o MT3's, Ashkeebs Port (wine), and another I can't think of the name of. Then I went back to the GMKs. I dont know what it is but nothing feels as good as GMK sets. Doesn't matter if they are PBT or ABS they just dont feel as good. I still have a hard time justifying spending more than $150 on a set but at least now I understand there is a pretty big difference.

Hello. I'm really a fan of GMK and have a few sets at home myself. In terms of sound, they are the best ever. In terms of design and color, they are the best ever. BUT !!!!! Firstly, you can shine so quickly on the caps, especially at the Spapcebar. that bothers me. And the space bars all have warp. Which often means that you have to trick it somehow to make it fit. Constant rattling no matter what wands you use. But otherwise great!!! What do i do now? I polish the GMK Caps, by Hand. Then is nice

Unfortunately, the solution is to use a different plastic; however, ABS is used because it is easier to double-shot and color. Plastic injection molding on ABS is also very consistent because it does not shrink like PBT. I'm typing on Dyesubs rn, but ABS keycaps like GMK still have the edge on customizability.

So opaque textured polycarbonate. Would probably double the price and significantly reduce the colour options, but would resist wearing to a shine significantly longer than ABS and PBT.

99% of GMK sets you see are designed by the keyboard community and sold by our vendors. GMK is only the manufacturer. This means GMK aren't allowed to remake and sell community created sets, it's not their intellectual property and they could get into legal trouble if they were to produce a product that's not a design they own. This kind of thing is taken very seriously by Germans.

My guess the chinese will soon catchup just need better human resources they definitely capable of producing and tooling just lack attention to detail but it will get there soon as long as the community keep growing than we can get competitive pricing..for now yeah well no one else we can rely on good high quality keycaps

Dont know where you are seeing 3 years. Even when the pandemic was at its peak it wasnt close to 3 years lol I ordered GMK Civilizations when the pandemic was pretty awful and it was about a year of wait. Yeah still very long but not even close to 3 years
