People give soccer players a lot of grief. But my high school started doing this in the 90s. We started a soccer team my Sophomore year. Football coach was tired of missing extra points. Invite one of my friends from the soccer team. They bring him in practice, put him in pads. He drills a 35 yard field goal with pressure coming at him. Coach welcomes him onto the team on the spot. Only has to come to practice on Thursday and Friday games and can still play soccer. Makes sense to me.

our kicker in high school was a soccer player that practiced for like 20 minutes a day and then went home. i think he still has the record for around a 50-55 yard kick and he didnt miss his senior year outside of a couple blocks.

they get grief because they fake injuries and are the biggest cry babies in any single sport on the planet pretending to have an obliterated shin and then back in the game immediately is too common in the sport if you put any of them in pads to actually get tackled they would literally die. that’s why they get so much hate but being a good kicker isn’t the same thing those soccer guys can make the best field goal kickers ever but that doesn’t make them tough

@@elileubner949 People forget that while some may embelish, soccer players are pretty amazing athletes. I played both football (wide receiver) and soccer (goalkeeper) in high school. @@elileubner949 might sound stupid but they really only do that in the pros, I played soccer from age 5 to 22 and I can tell you for certain that nobody was flopping around to get a call, and if they did the call went against them for embellishment. I don't watch professional soccer, it annoys me.

Leg strength is one thing. A lot of players have it these days -- a few years ago I saw Joey Slye have the distance on a 67-yard FG (it missed about a foot wide to the right.) But Brandon Aubrey and Justin Tucker can kick it ACCURATELY from 60+ on a regular basis.

I was there, -Gandalf- Isaac. I was there, -three thousand years ago- in 1998 and -Isildor took the ring- Jason Elam made the kick. I was there the day the -strength of men failed- record of longest FG began to be tied. Sebastian Janikowski, Oakland Raiders (2011). David Akers, San Francisco 49ers (2012). Graham Gano, Carolina Panthers (2018). Brett Maher, Dallas Cowboys (2019). Each, 63 yards. When Matt Prater, Denver Broncos (2013) did it at Mile High, liek Elam before him, the credit was given to the thin air. But the same could not be said when the king, Justin Tucker, Baltimore Ravens (2021) put on his crown.

It’s all about stopping body parts to the other body parts work the way they should. I call it the brakes. When your pelvis runs into your lead femur you get a sling shot effect with the trail leg. Most don’t allow the femur to stop the pelvis and when the pelvis continues on so does the core and you will power and spin the motion out which causes a hook effect on the ball. As a prop bettor, he’s on my weekly radar for over 1.5 fg/gm. When he’s at home? No brainer 🤪

It became easier each year for me to slack off football. Gogolak (sp?) was a draw and fun but over the years the game was/is played for the kickers. Get so close, good enough, kick one. In a nut shell a rule I came up within the '80-ish times. No field goals if inside the 10, none if outside the 40. Play football, not kick the can but alas!, don't care anymore, quit watching NFL in 2k and college in '22. Do enjoy these snippet's, keep 'em coming.

He’s going to get a lot of opportunities to make record breaking field goals this season with Dallas’s offense.
