Very cool stuff. One with a very fast refresh rate could be extremely useful for audio projects -- could be used for anything from displaying parameters as you edit them, to showing resulting waveforms, etc etc. The way MeeNote handles the tradeoff between low latency and full data representation reminds me of how a sequencer I'm working on handles note duration values. First it writes incoming midi key presses with a pre-adjusted dummy value for its duration (200ms is its current default), and then the location where that was written is used by another writing function once you release the key to send a duration value produced from a timer. This allows fully instantaneous writing, but also a post-hoc edit that fills in the data that did not exist at the original time of writing.
@lua-nya Жыл бұрын
You can do that in MIDI? I am such a novice.

I will need to rematch this video again as some of it went over my head a bit, but I'm glad I now have a good resource to EXPLAIN the development behind the devices I love 😁 The other day I saw for the first time in my life eink price tags at our local grocery store!! I was so excited! And my wife thought I was a weirdo! 😅 it's so cool seeing eink and eink style technology (like the recent creation of DES by Wei Feng sold by Good Display, used in the sketchy kickstarter campaign of the company Reinkstone)! Is it not possible to have black and white e-ink displays to have their whites be retroreflective? It seems like a good way to increase readability in some cases where one might want an extra-bright display or better visibility in the dark.
@jamianh4502 Жыл бұрын
I'm sure it's possible, although I don't think a retro-reflective "background" would provide a significant advantage over simply increasing the brightness/purity of the white. Plus by nature of how it would bounce light back I could see it causing unwanted irritation from different brightness values if there's a light source behind the reader.
