You may think it's convenient to have everything in one big store under one roof but that's a big Corporation that's dominating the market, who squeezed out all the little guys. In the West, they now have a choice to work for a big Corporation for a minimum wage, or starve! They can not compete with a Corporation! Whereas in Russia a small guy can still start their own business and actually pull himself up by the bootstraps. And provide for his family as a sole earner, while the wife can focus on bringing up children and creating a beautiful home. Russia today is USA of the 1950s, without racism 😂

That is true, I have stared several small businesses in Russia after moving from California. I had several businesses there that were very specialized so had no competition with the big corporations such as a business that only provided repair and installation of the communications equipment for national forests and mount top repeaters...too small to interest the big companies, an a very successful recording studio complex of 3 studios back when the reording industry was profitable , We had only 34 staff but produced 197 gold and platinum albums before digital copying ended profitability in music and several other under the radar businesses such as a shop that repaired and restored 1950s to 1980 Italian GT collector cars. Anyone with an idea and a market in need could create a business that worked. Now it is really hard in the US. I moved to Russia in Jan 2000 and found many niches to fill and the cost of living so low that almost any good idea is rewarded with decent income. Sure there are large companies but many specialties that are too small to interest big companies and with the very low cost of living it is possible to survive long enough to become profitable. In the US most small startups run out of money before they can break even due to the very high cost of living . Here in Russia anyone you hire knows a lot of subjects, and is a competent human. The education system is so good, anyone is a competent addition to a small business. That was the hardest part of small business in the US, so few people have basic knowledge of life to be problem solvers, few knew what the believed they coud to so the biggest risk for a start up is employees. Here, in 23 years in business I have never had do fire anyone. When I started here I spent a lot of time interviewing people but soon found out all were effective additions so within 6 months I stopped searching and hen we needed more people as the business grew to 83 employees, I would just tell the staff if they knew anyone who needed a job, tell them to start Monday. But that was good enough, everyone was a competent effective person who could solve problems before they became problems. It lowered risk and my own workload. Russia is a better place to start a small business, it is easier and more likely to succeed than in the US. I do not even know any stupid foolish people and I meet new people every single day.

Hi. I live in Canada for over 30 years, and I am watching all your videos, I really enjoy watching your family and findings in Russia. About the colors: here, at least in Ontario, the grey of all shadows is popular, and really, I think, it is so depressive, and in my opinion, ugly. I wish I could get the siding of funky, something no greyish, no charcoal here. When I pass the new built areas, for example, Kanata, it is so scary to see all these black houses. How the Canadians can live in these houses? Really... My house is old one, and completely white, not perfect, but better than charcoal, for sure. My fence's post are metal pipes, and I am so glad I choose this way, stable and pretty. I dream to move to Russia. One day my dream will come true, just like yours. Best wishes.

Много старых деревяных домов достаются молодежи и они хотят придать им свежий вид свйдиегом, поэтому он популярен, это довольно дешево и быстро можно сделать, а дом выглядит лучше. Часто это летние дома, дача, поэтому требования к качеству ниже и бюджет меньше, так как это не основной дом, а для отдыха в выходные, барбекю итд. На счет выбора цветов согласен, но продавцы выставляют не все, что у них есть, а то, что им нравится, вы можете найти продавца с хорошими ценами и попросить показать весь ассортимент. Здорово, что вы изучаете рынок и разные возможности и берете нас с собой, делая интересные ролики, надеюсь вы во всем разберетесь и создадите ферму своей мечты! You need to find local sawmill for the woods. It’s much cheaper. Yeah it’s very different here when it comes to building materials. It’s like a quest to find what you need sometimes. You should talk more to the locals. They will help you find the right thing at a good price. As for colors, I agree that the choice is not the best. But you can still find something decent I am sure. It’s getting better now with the boom of construction. So you will just have to be patient (I.e. Russian😊) and try to enjoy the quest. Aneessa, chin up! You have a beautiful smile ❤

It's difference caused some discomfort to him, in Russia we always go to nearest supermarket, small shop or order delivery. Если опытный строитель станет строить без нормального проекта на глаз, постройка может и обрушиться однажды весной. В разных местностях разная снеговая нагрузка и т.п., можно и не угадать со старыми привычками.

Снова привет, Какое то старенькое видео, уже жара по всюду, а они ещё в куртках 🙂. Постройка дома начинается с геологии земли, потом выбора правильного фундамента. В России другая почва, более мягкая чем в северной Америке. Нужно заказать проект. Иначе возможно испортить целый дом, предполагая что всё знаешь заранее (каждый из нас думает, что он хороший строитель)))

Arend, I worked as a consultant in a large chain of DIY stores in the Russian Federation ("Maxihome" in St. Petersburg). Until February 22 we sold a good range of cordless DeWalt/Ryoby/Makita/Milwaukee/Bosch a few Hitachi and Metabo. But unfortunately for builders and workers with professional tools since the spring of 22, all these brands fell into the sanctions block and had to be replaced by domestic (assembled in Russia/manufactured in China) and Chinese brands, the same DeWalt has long been produced in China, but they have an established a system of working with distributors around the world and time-tested quality. As a former representative of a large instrument distributor in the Russian Federation, I would give you the following advice: - Either wait for your instrument to be sent from Canada (the most convenient option), or look for a private seller - a shuttle on Avito (who deals with gray imports from Europe/States) or, as a last resort, try to bring it through dropshipping from Ebay/Amazon.. (but with shipping in the Russian Federation mainly through an intermediary)

Приветствую Аренд, Анисса и ребята! Рад увидеть новое видео. По поводу сайдинга. Он довольно популярен в случае когда нужно утеплять старые дома. Когда на этапе строительства не было возможности сделать правильно утепление. А сайдинг позволяет довольно дёшево закрыть внешнюю теплоизоляцию от погодного воздействия и от ультрафиолета. Конечно же когда дом спроектирован правильно и с нужной степенью тепловой защиты, то необходимости в сайдинге нет. Добра вам!

Живу Вологодской обл сын строит дом, купил сруб в 2022г 6*9 из зимнего леса за 180 тыс и доставка более 500 км с разгрузкой 40 тыс. Пристроил веранду, свет, газ.. К чему веду речь, сейчас баню только купить можно.. Покупать надо в деревнях, где занимаются рубкой домов, бань и пилят доски..там дешевле..

У большого магазина большая инфраструктура: склад, много работников, большой магазин, где нужно платить уборщикам, грузчикам, продавцам, охранникам, слесарям, сантехникам, содержать погрузчики и много ещё чего. А мелкий продавец экономит на всех этих расходах, потому может продать дешевле.

Лично я не люблю сайдинг.. Из металла, пластика.. Дешёвка, и выглядит соответственно. Альтернатива , блокхаус или планкен из дерева. Единственное, это дороже, и ещё необходимо покрывать, например маслом. Возможен ещё вариант - японские панели. Они из фиброцемента. Но цена тоже кусается.. Можно вообще на фасаде использовать обычную доску или осб панель со штапиком накладкой вертикально, с определённым шагом. Может выглядеть неплохо. Это я, как архитектор вам говорю..

Until February 22 we sold a good range of cordless DeWalt/Ryoby/Makita/Milwaukee/Bosch a few Hitachi and Metabo. But unfortunately for builders and workers with professional tools since the spring of 22, all these brands fell into the sanctions block and had to be replaced by domestic (assembled in Russia/manufactured in China) and Chinese brands, the same DeWalt has long been produced in China, but they have an established a system of working with distributors around the world and time-tested quality. As a former representative of a large instrument distributor in the Russian Federation, I would give you the following advice: - Either wait for your instrument to be sent from Canada (the most convenient option), or look for a private seller - a shuttle on Avito (who deals with gray imports from Europe/States) or, as a last resort, try to bring it through dropshipping from Ebay/Amazon.. (but with shipping in the Russian Federation mainly through an intermediary)

Если вы будете строить деревянный дом, то на особо важные места берите лиственницу, на ней вся Венеция стоит уже не одну сотню лет. Но цена у неё высокая. Я не знаю, как принято у нижегородцев, а у нас отстроенный фундамент стоит год, чтобы дал осадку, потом строится дом.

Лобовое стекло для ГАЗели , наверное лучше покупать прямо с завода в городе БОР, который находится напротив Нижнего Новгорода, на другой стороне реки Волга. :) Тем более, что завод ГАЗ обычно Борские стёкла и ставит на свои автомобили. :)

❤ this is an outside market. Usually people go there and they walk around a whole bunch. Ask how much you charge is for what and then they try to make a deal with one of them and the barter with them since you, Don’t speak very good Russian. It will be hard for you to barter with them. If anything don’t think you have extra money, you gotta go shopping with somebody that speaks Russian and knows what they’re buying.

Hi Arend, most likely you know that all, however to remind that one thing need not to be forgotten is geology survey of the area for house and other important facility. Depending on the location, soil could be of river-origin which can come into play in winter-spring transitional season. When temperature crosses zero degrees Celsius twice a day and there are cycles of freezing/thawing, that may affect basement and any construction on top of that soil. You might want to ask locals on details, still it is a good start with geology survey. It costs reasonable money in Russia. They basically drill few wells, take core out and analyse, than make conclusion what type of basement should there be and what is the permitted load in ton per square meter (you could ask to recalc for pounds per square inch or acre or whatever :). Also a well will provide info on water source below.

Все делается гораздо проще,, открывается интернет, Яндекс и пишется "глубина промерзания в Нижнем Новгороде", так за 30 секунд и ноль рублей мы можем узнать, что глубина промерзания в Нижнем Новгороде 140-154 см. Фундамент делается сантиметров на 20 ниже этой отметки, взять 180 см, не ошибешься. А вот глубину залегания подземных вод неплохо бы узнать у местных жителей и по уровню воды в колодцах.

What I have learned living in Odesa( Ukraine) for a few years it is just wise and better to buy at one of the big hardware stores that has everything that you need than going to those small shops where they rip you off all the time. Same rule applies to Russia.🇿🇦🇦🇺🇬🇪🇷🇺🇷🇺🇷🇺

No, not really. Large volumes are better bought at actual mill or factory, big yards can have stock and variety, small shops can offer things you can't find anywhere else. Price is always a thing to consider and compare, no one can rip you off unless you let them

In my experience living in Russia (North) for over 9 years, the big shops are usually likely to rip you off. Better to check a few different places big and small before making a purchase, unless you already know your spot.

Я занимаюсь отделкой квартир и найти старые добрые Bosch и Metabo крайне сложно, только если через Market places (yandex market, ozon etc.), где работает все через казахстан и другие страны. Заказываешь и ждешь. Найти что-то в живую из хороших инструментов сейчас наврятли получится. Увы.
