We have that tree in Jamaica but, its not eaten. When its dry and turn brown we use them as shakers(rattlers) as kids to make music. Now I know its edible 😄

We call it "Gulmahar" in our country and we don't eat this seed as recipe but we made this seed's powder as a natural system of medicine(ayurvedic medicine)

- yes in the U.S. but we don't have them that big in grocery stores. I've never actually seen the tree though so I'm assuming it's imported.

เราคนไทยคะชอบกินมากสมัยก่อนไม่ค่อยมีอะไรให้เด็กๆกินก้อจะหากินขิงแบบนี้กันชอบมากคะอร่อยดีกินเพลินมากแต่คนไทยไม่นิยมกินคะ.. ลุกนี้เราเรียกว่าลุดหางนกยูงคะเวลาออกดอกสวยมากแดงไปทั้งต้นเลยจะออกดอดช่วงหน้าร้อนคะแล้วก​้​ฮ้าจะติดลุกแบบนี้ละคะคนไม่นิยมกินก​้​ฮ้าจะแก่และตกลงมาเต็มถนนรกไปหมดคะ.. จะกินบางพื้นทึ่ก้อแบบทางบ้านเกิดเราคะ.. เราจะมีวิธีการแกะกินที่ดูง่ายกว่านี้คะผุ้ใหญ่มือแข็งแรงจะทำให้เด็กๆกินคะ.. เราก้อเคยทำตอนโตขึ้นมาม.. คือจับฟักของเขาด้วยสองมือหัวท้ายทำข้อมือแข็งๆแล้วหันข้อมือใก้เปนเหมือน​การปั้นผ้าที่ซักแล้วให่น้ำไหลออกตากผ้านะคะคือหมุนข้อมือทั้งสองข้างบิดข้อมือให้ข้อบิดฝักเขาให้เหม่อ​นการลบิดผ้าที่ซักให้น้ำออกเลนคะแล้วฝักก้อจะอ้าแตกออกตามขอบสันของฝักก้อแกะออกได้เลยคะลิงทำดูนะคะจะง่ายกว่าวิธีอื่นๆคะแต่ฝักต้องไม่แก่หรืออ่อนเกินไปนะคะ

It's more of a seed then a fruit, very interesting we have other trees that grow similar pods with black seeds that has an unpleasant smell when cracked 😱😷 And Its not edible in anyway shape or form lol
