The compass spins when you Reroll. If you don't Reroll, or you place it where it can only point to one thing, then what it is pointing at gets x4.

Compass changes - or at least rolls to change - targets when you reroll. So it incentivizes you to either _not_ reroll, once you've got it on the one you want, or to place it in a spot where it can only target one thing.

the reason it keeps looking confusing is because compass multiplier effects change in the draft screen while the whistle ones only reset back to showing their multi once the next ball is dropped. so you get your 32x, then whistles get smacked and you're down, but it goes up right as the next drop begins.
